Dez Bryant to the Patriots??? Maybe

First of all: No.

Second of all: I keep asking this and either keep missing the reply or no one knows/cares. Isn't any player we sign from here on out ineligible for the playoff roster? If so, the last thing we need is a guy who is here just long enough to get up to speed before we have to kiss him goodbye for the most important games of the year.

I think that is incorrect.

Okay, I must have misinterpreted something somewhere then. Still, to Dez... not really interested.

If he's willing to block, and to serve as a receiving TE instead of a WR? I'm no board with at least considering that, and bringing him in for a look.

But I haven't seen anything that tells us he'd be willing to do something like that.

Desdemona is equally likely.

We just drafted a younger version of him in Harry.

Brown is the only free agent who can fix this offense.

The Patriots signed James Harrison on 12/26 after the Steelers let him go back in 2017. So I don't think there are any issues there.

As for Dez, I'd like to think someone else would have probably explored that route by now and there's a reason he's still out of the league. Although I wonder if the Lions would set Calvin Johnson free...he's only 33 but the question would be whether he had anything left.

We signed Michael Floyd mid December in 2016. I don’t think he played in the playoffs but not for lack of eligibility.

Thank you both, great examples. Clearly this is one of those moments where I was half listening to/reading something, and instead of researching and clarifying I doubled down and decided it was gospel. Lesson learned :D

Desperate times.

LOL, you're fine. I've had plenty of those :D

Any UFA is free to sign with any team and play in the playoffs. I think the confusion lies in Gronk's November 30 deadline, but that is a different case since Gronk is under contract and didn't report.

I'm not opposed would rather have Dez on the Roster than useless Ryan Izzo:rolleyes: but that just me.

Thank you! I think that's exactly the wire my brain got crossed.

That would depend entirely (as Deus said above) on Bryant's willingness to play tight end. It's not like we're deep at that position either, and I would rather have a mediocre tight end talent playing tight end, than a more talented wide receiver playing tight end half-heartedly.

Redundant much?
