Devin Mccourty

That bum Cardono hasn't done squat either. Look at the box score, nothing!

actually I saw him make a tackle last night, did a great job covering a punt.

McCourty is a good, but not great player. When we had a competent secondary and pass rush in 2014 he was really good, but with the current secondary and no pass rush he doesn't have the opportunities to make the plays we've seen from him in the past.

Waah Waah Waah.. I want highlight plays.. Waah Waah Waah..
Just one though maybe out of this defense...? Too much to ask?

D-Mac is the least of our problems though. I wish he'd make more turnovers, but I'll take his quietly consistent performance over the last few years over early in his career when he made plays, but got beat often.

Comparing Devin's stats to Earl Thomas' stats is like comparing Vince Wilfork's stats to Suh's stats. They're players who have the same position but are asked to do very different things dependent on scheme.

On the game-clinching TD to Baldwin McCourty was lined up as CB up top while Harmon was the single safety shading over to the side of Jimmy Graham.

Wow, Harmon looks like hes running in quicksand in that clip, he must have just been caught out of position or something

Yes, there are very few teams besides the Seahawks that have a better safety tandem than ours

There are more teams that are lacking a legit Free Safety than teams that have one.. we're very luck in that regard

Just wondering what is wrong with highlight plays? We all love the highlight plays this offense produces on a regular basis. Is there something wrong with defensive highlight players? Most winning teams produce highlight plays.

I'd love to see more highlight plays from McCourty, but I don't think it is his fault. I agree with most that's it's the way he is used.

I was saying Haden....was told we were all set at CB.

I. Don't get the technique there. He's 6-7 yards downfield standing still while the receiver gets a clean release and is up to speed by the time Harmon tries to chuck the receiver. He succeeds in slowing the receiver down a little, but from that point The receiver is still at about 2/3 speed and Harmon is just starting to chase him from basically a dead stop. How can he possibly catch up?? With that technique his better option was probably to just tackle Baldwin when he went bye.

You can say whatever you want, but it seems pretty clear the Browns' asking price was too high on all of their players. No team was going to trade anything of value for Haden when he's not even worth the contract itself.

Can't really blame the safety. There are three guys wide open on this play. If Harmon takes one more step toward the center of the field, the ball is going to Graham for a TD. The only one not open is the guy Butler jammed at the line.

thats what im saying, Devin should have been back not Harmon

I don't know about that. Chung was in excellent position, as long as he had turned his head around.

Not a huge McCourty fan but one stat no one's mentioned is games played - in 7 years he's only missed 5 games... Belichick always says dependability important...

I don't think you'd ever find anyone here who wouldn't want Haden as a semi-talented player (although he's fallen off dramatically), but his salary and injury issues were the main concerns.

The Pats don't have the personnel to go with exotic formations this year, they had it in the past couple seasons, and McCourthy certainly played a big role on that. Not the case this time.

I think that McCourty offers good experience in our system, excellent versatility in his ability to take on multiple roles, and finally leadership. Those are all important traits to a guy like Bill Belichick.

Unfortunately, as good as he is in those roles, not to mention vs. the run, McCourty still hasn't really proven himself terribly worthy of covering his opponent--understanding that the scheme has not put him in the best situation for this lately.

I think the exotic formations/schemes will come once BB is satisfied with the correct mix of personell. Even thought half of the regular season is over I don't think the coaching staff has identified that yet. Thank god for the next 3 games being pre-season level opponents.

If McCourty played for the Seahawks he'd look a lot better, blame the way the Patriots use him.

Jones wasn't good apparently according some of the experts on here, now he's one of the best 5 pass rushers in the NFL.

Collins freelanced and he wasn't good apparently but he's better than Roberts who got abused yesterday, now it's McCourty who's being paid too much.

Why don't we trade him for a 4th in the summer and stick another band aid back there and just get rid of all the talent on defense and just have a bunch of $2m vets who can't play, that's gonna work.

If this team had a good cover corner they could do alot of things. Play press or man. They wouldn't be scared to rush 4. McCourty did very well when revis was here.
