A fan favorite, a good player. Team leader, heart and soul of the defense...

But I have to ask. Why is it he gets 9-10 million dollars a year (most guaranteed money in safety history at the time) yet he hardly ever creates turnovers or seems to make game changing plays? Is it the scheme that's holding him back or is that not his playing style?

Last night I was live at the game, and I couldn't believe how much cushion he was giving the WRs with how deep he was playing. And he was late getting to the ball almost every time. There was a lot of confusion on assignments, and I attribute part of that to mcCourty but most of it to Patricia.

I like Devin a lot, I just wish I saw him creating more turnovers as one of the top safeties in the NFL . Devin is definitely not the problem. But we need someone on D to step up and take over a game when others are struggling, that difference maker.

It's only one game, only one loss. But the lack of turnovers created by mccourty has been going on for a while.

turnovers are usually a reflection of the pass rush (which is where we are struggling)

I see Devin as the final rung on the bend but don't break philosophy that BB has implemented (i.e. no long TD passes). McCourty could probably play a different style if he was asked to do that by the coaches.

Does seem hard to justify, but we all know BB would unload a player he doesn't see value in.

I've been saying this for years now! He is not a playmaker, he rarely even shows up in the screen at the end of a play! How many deep floaters did Wilson put up last night, and McCourty (nor harmon for that matter) where no where to be seen when they came down!

McCourty has to be the most overated Patriots player, maybe ever! Plus he counts 17 Million against the cap this year and 12 million next year! (and you can't even cut him, because it would be a 13 million cap hit if they did!).

Have you an advanced copy of the coaches tape to know his assignment on those floaters or why do you assume that he was even responsible for the deep portion on those plays ?

Well, it seems to work for Seattle's safeties. They are 100 times the player DMC is

Earl Thomas is a great player, Chancellor is overrated but used perfectly by Seattle. Kinda pointless to say since DMac and Chancellor are playing different positions but I definitely take DMac over him.. 100 times out of 100.

i don't know how well harmon plays CB, but on a single high safety look , that safety should ALWAYS be Devin

bring up Harmon and put him man to man instead, having Devin on the field and not as your single high safety is ludicrous

On the game-clinching TD to Baldwin McCourty was lined up as CB up top while Harmon was the single safety shading over to the side of Jimmy Graham.

26 just awful man coverage. Bad instincts slow reaction. Must be Logan Ryan?

Harmon doesn't get the blame there..he had to track both sides of the field. He had a lot of ground to make up when the Seahawks WR got open. The CB who blew the man coverage gets the blame

Bingo. Just bad, bad coverage. With Harmon shading over to Graham's side he must not let Baldwin get inside position on him. His jam was bad and Baldwin had an easy path into the EZ.

Couple of additions: 1) Look at that jam by Butler. Beautiful. Didn't have a great game last night, but worlds better than any other CB out there.

2) Ryan not being able to hold up Baldwin probably cost a 3rd down stop there. Long was bringing the pressure on Wilson, if Baldwin hadn't been open the result would've been most likely an errant throw.
