Exactly... but these things have a bad tendency to turn out accurate... It's disappointing.

On EEI Brady always talked about how the smart players on the field are the same way off the field and vice-versa. Meriweather's on field mistakes (coverages, late hits) perhaps reflected his judgment more than we realized.

A man was shot in the head.....not LOL from me.

Not the first time this player had been linked to guns. Although as a student,he was exonerated in his defense.

This type of judgement is not dissimilar to someone who might stomp on a face down player with his cleats.

Deadspin has a fair record, there is a good chance this is true.

He wasn't a good player anyway, I just wish BB traded him before this happened. Now he can only be cut.

If this really did happen exactly as the sources said, why didn't we hear about it on February 28?

Lets not jump to conclusions here. This happened on the 27th of last month. No arrests have been made. The police are still investigating. Its 'deadspin.com'..........Don't you think if this was such a big deal, that espn wouldve reported it on the 28th? It sounds to me like there's more to the story. Im waiting to hear more before I assume he's an idiot.

Police don't release all info to the media immediately after something happens, especially with a case under investigation. If they would have charged him right there, I'm sure we would have heard about it.

A couple things to consider: first, living in Florida I can tell you that Dan Sileo - the guy that started all this (Deadspin picked up their story from him) - is whatever talk show radio host you cannot stand times ten. He's an opinionated guy that thinks the world of himself. If you think Felger is a contrarian just for the purpose of trying to drive ratings, this guy is that times a hundred.

Second, the lawyer. Morgan and Morgan is James Sokolove to the tenth degree. Put it this way: the original ambulance chasing firm of Morgan Colling and Gilbert found John Morgan so repugnant they walked away from his style and tactics.


Now for all I now Meriweather did indeed shoot an innocent person in the head. The fact is that as of this moment none of us know. I'm just saying that you may want to consider the source - Sileo and Morgan - when evaluating any comments any forming an opinion over the next few days.

I will of course, wait until other news to be released, as is protocol, but as another poster said, these things always seem to turn out to be true more often than not. That, and Deadspin.com has broken some major, credible stories lately--Favre stuff, Rex Ryan foot fetish, Sanchez' affair with an underage girl. I have a bad feeling about this one.

Thank you Brandon, for once again, bringing negative attention to a group that does its job well, keeps their mouth shut, and respects their opponents. Not looking forward to the media attention on this one.

I did some work for MC&G before the split. The assistants were nice. That "FOR the people" schtick of Morgan's got old in about 10 seconds, though.

But how often does a story like this stay under wraps for over a week without any details? Even in Miami, I would think two people getting shot by an NFL player at a nightclub/party would have drawn some attention in the first 24 hours.

Good point, but these are also many of the comments that we have seen regarding other negative news around here. I'm not going to get my hopes up.

As far as deadspin goes, they have broken some important stories lately. The whole Favre saga, the RR foot fetish, and most recently the Sanchez underage girl. I'm guessing that they could be more reliable than we want to give them credit for. (not to be argumentative towards you--at all)

If true, this would absolutely suck IMO. Sure we can replace him, but he did bring some good attributes, and had led our secondary in turnovers since he's been here. Now a position of strength becomes well, weaker.

Like I said earlier, do you think anyone knew about it on the 28th? If any media knew that Brandon Meriweather was being investigated for a shooting that injured two people on Feb. 28th, they would have reported it.

Police don't release all information immediately after it happens, especially open investigations. And they also don't always name a suspect in a case unless an arrest is just around the corner.

My feeling is that the lawyer is opening his mouth, same as Marvin Harrison's lawyer did three years ago, because they don't want the case to be swept under the rug and of course, $$$$$$$$$$!

2 Shot, Show Up At Apopka Hospital - Orlando News Story - WESH Orlando

And, note:

Both victims are in stable condition, deputies said. Both victims said they do not want to press any charges.

Deputies said the men are not cooperating with the investigation.

Investigators said they received a call reporting a shooting in Apopka just after 2 a.m. Deputies said the shooting happened near 17th Street.

17th Street in Apopka, FL, according to Google Maps, is more than a mile from the location cited by Deadspin. Also, the victims were brought to the hospital "by private cars."

One other thing, BTW: remember that there is currently an embargo on roster moves, so the Pats can't cut him ATM even if they want to.
