The Colts tainted themselves by being drivers for Deflategate. Much like the Browns signing Watson, you reap what you sow.

I say this not being cavalier about Jones' injury, that sucks for him.
Yeah, deflategate wasn’t on Jones and I hope he makes a full recovery.

With that said, screw the Colts.

Unfortunate injury for both Daniel Jones and fans lie all of us who have an interest in the Dolts staying mediocre. Think about it, he stays healthy the Dolts lock him up on a cap killer of a contract, then we could've cross them off as a team we needed to be concerned about as AFC rivals for years. Now the Dolts may stumble onto a truly dangerous QB. That's a win/win down the drain
Cousins with his *career* ONE Wildcard Weekend Playoff Win now at age 36 (give or take) would be my highly recommended choice for these “air” heads to sign.. Another $30M/year is chump change for “Mr Statman”!

Tough break for the newly annointed best owner in sports.

Cousinson bet on himself at the NFL owners salary roulette table playing his chips and assuming the risk, for once the house didn't win.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. I don't begrudge him a dime of his earnings but have to admit his sense of entitlement (not the size of the payday) after taking the Blankman's money was kinda low rent for a guy with a warehouse full of money trucks

I agree that if an owner can pay whatever he/she believes a player is worth hopefully based on their belief he will lead his team to the ultimate win. For me, I find it incredible that in 14 years the QB with 1 playoff win earned $411M, while the QB with 35 playoff wins including 7 SB’s over 23 seasons EARNED $333M. Things that make yiu go, “hmmm…”

BTW if it soothes any Cousins has earned @ $322M so far, $80M of Blankman's cash in his current contract is not likely to realized. The fact 2/3's of that came at the expense of Snyder and Wilf, both of whom are documented thieves in the eyes of the law as proven by their own admissions in court documents, without them getting jack for their money does make Cousin's haul a tiny bit enjoyable when viewed from that perspective

That sucks for Danny Dimes, dude was gonna get a nice contract next free agency.

Now, the Colts gambled big time with those 2 first round picks they gave up for the jets CB. I particularly would never make that move for a CB.

Like yourself, I don’t have anything against the Ex-Giants QB and hope he fully recovers and continues his career. Heck, it’s not like his first name is “Eli” after all. However, since this is the Colts, and for the sake of integrity, I trust they are not using “air casts” for either injury. If they are, as I’m sure they would expect the same with the Pats, air pressure must meet and also not exceed NFL approved guidelines… Fortunately it appears that Ravens Coach Harbaugh could potentially have some spare time in the near future and once again may be available to lend his expertise on all topics pertaining to “air”, especially issues dealing with “hot air”……

Teams that traded a first round pick plus for a Jets star defensive back who quickly came to regret it:

Tampa Bay, Darrelle Revis
Seattle, Jamal Adams
Colts, Sauce Gardner

Again, don't hate the player, hate the game.

It’ll be interesting when he hangs ‘em up what the final tally will be. Given the tough injuries some starters have had, he may still find one more payday. No matter who paid/pays it’ll be the mist in NFL history if his current 1 playoff win holds- that’s a BUNCH of cash for that return….

You guys really have to get a sense of historical perspective.

Tom Brady was drafted in 2000. NFL Salary Cap was 62M.

Kirk Cousins was drafted in 2012. NFL Salary Cap was 120M.

By the time Kirk Cousins is drafted in 2012, Tom was going into his 13th NFL season. During that time, the NFL salary cap doubles.

Tom retired after the 2022 season with the cap at 208M.

Cousins is still playing in 2025 where the cap is now 279M.

Which means Cousins came into a league paying twice the cap Tom experienced in 12 seasons. Cousins has now participated in 3 seasons where the cap has increased another 71M.

The fact that Kirk Cousins got paid more overall is largely a factor of these disparities.

Don’t disagree *but* would also include stupidity to go along with the noted disparities….

I certainly hope if he hits another serious payday it will once again come at the expense of an owner we either hold in contempt or just generally enjoy mocking. Cards are gonna be looking for a QB, be great if it was that skinflint Bidwill

Of course the ever expanding cap had the most to do with but his timing and the fact he played the tag pretty well didn't hurt any. And whose money he took makes it hard not to at least smile when I think it about it

For historical reference. (Dan Marino's ruptured Achilles)
