It doesn’t hurt either…
We just lost the H2H tiebreaker to a team that was supposed to be with us in the WC mix.

Playoffs would be nice but not expecting it.

The main difference Sunday was that Geno played the QB position well and Drake didn't. Not the end of the world but is concerning because the story in camp was that Maye wasn't playing well.
Our coverage breakdowns had alot more to do with it. Hats off to the raiders for taking advantage. They had thier all pro in Bowers and we didn’t have our all pro in gonzo. Nonetheless defense played well enough to win.

I think it might. Expectations for this team were way too high. I'm entering this year same as last. Who on this team is worth keeping around and building around? And who will be gone by next season? Goes for players and coaches.
I still believe this team is better and headed in a better direction than at any point post Brady. Of course there are the here for now guys... Diggs, Moses, to name a few. But Vrabel needs another draft to really put his imprint on his team. The offense has pieces to be much better than what we saw in the second half...

Don't count us out yet brother it's a long season... remember the 2021 team?? They looked like it wasn't heading anywhere too after the first few weeks. We still are headed in a far better direction as a organization than at any point post Brady. We have to understand something also about Sundays game.. the raiders had thier all pro in Bowers we didn't have out all pro in gonzo. You see the mere presence of Bowers how it opens up an offense? As you know gonzo does the same for a defense. Our coverages has alot to do with it.

I haven't seen receivers that open in a long time.

I agree. I am expecting to see progress with Drake Maye's development this season. If so, great! If not, I think Vrabel and Cowden will really start to examine if Josh is the right OC to develop Maye. It could be they find things like the overall talent level prevented development and give Josh another year, or it could be they feel that Josh and Drake are a square peg / round hole situation.

I don't see them moving on from Drake. He came out of college as a QB needing development. if Josh isn't the guy who can't get it done you find another guy you think can be that guy. One season is a big sample size, IMO. Drake has a lot of physical traits that are hard to find. It's hard to see any scenario where someone better falls into our lap next season, be it a veteran FA or college draft pick.

To me the end of year 3 is when you would consider what to do with Drake. Either he's a good fit for our offense by then and it's a no-brainer to pick up his fifth year, or it's time to move on before you get pressured into committing to him for another two years, or even worse, get into the Tua / Brock Purdy / Kyler Murray situation where events force you to extend him to a huge contract without knowing he's really the guy or not.

There’s no need to overreact and I’m not going to, everyone needs to improve and it starts with the coaches. If that’s representative of what halftime adjustments will look like the coaches dropped the ball entirely. Nobody looked ready to start the game… they looked outright inept the second half.

As far as the original posters comments go…

Pats are no better or even worse than last season - They’re better. At least the talent is there, last year at this time the offensive line had no talent and no hope to improve.

Dolphins are toast time to rebuild - True, they just don’t know it yet.

Drake Maye is 100% a bust it's time for a new QB - To be determined, he doesn’t have to become a bust to be a disappointment, he could be a Drew Bledsoe “good but not good enough” type. It’s too early to tell.

Daniel Jones is the answer for the Colts - He’s a thousand times better than Anthony Richardson, who will be a colossal bust without major improvement.

Thornton is going to be a star with the Chiefs - If he can stay healthy he can be that field stretching outside receiver that takes the top of opposing D’s and catches 2-3 deep balls a game for a high average. Some Pats fans have an irrational hatred of the collaborations draft picks and root for them to fail. Odd….

Aaron Rodgers is going to make the Steelers great - Rogers on the Steelers instead of last year’s Jets is better for Rogers. It’s a team game and the Steelers are well coached. The Jets have a glimmer of hope with a new coach but still need a QB, we’ll see.

The Pats beat themselves, they can fix themselves… that is reason enough for hope.
So, Maye being Bledsoe isn't enough.

sigh

You will continue to be disappointed.

Who gets hurt? Don’t be absurd….

Why overreact, this is just year 1 of the re-re-re-rebuild.

Please don't let us be that team that drafts someone and then hands him 3 different systems in 3 years.

That's what you do if it's clear the first two aren't working.

IMO a full season with a full off-season leading into it should be long enough to figure out if things are heading in the right direction or not.

I hope they do head in the right direction since I like Josh, but if it's just not working, move on.

Slightly above average can be disappointing.
I presume that you weren't a fan before Brady.

In any case, top 10-15 (slightly above average) would be a bit disappointing for a top 3 pick in a draft with 6 potential top ten QB's, but probably enough to be able to compete for Super Bowls.

My biggest fear is that maybe JMD isn't the wizard that he's been credited for all these years.
That 2nd half made NO SENSE offensively. No adjustments.

That be terrifying.
