Cut Jones now!

In order of "the extent to which I'm fine with seeing them out there":

Butler > Ryan > Rowe > J. Jones > Coleman > C. Jones.

Cyrus and Coleman are pretty much in a deadlock, though. I'm not thrilled to see either one of them playing corner at any time. Feel pretty good about the top 4, though.

Only minor change is Rowe > Ryan. More athletic. Better in man.

Overall I like Ryan but I think hes hit his ceiling.

Once again, those of us questioning using the 60th overall pick on a short CB without elite speed
have been proven correct, and once again, Bill has been proven wrong - again.

Bill is usually right. You can't predict that Cyrus was going to have a nervous breakdown and forget how to catch punts.

He is noticeably small though.

Ravens just cut Devin Hester.

He's not what he used to be, but at a minimum you can rely on him not to play chick with the football for no apparent reason.

I would take a look at him.

So we're not even giving guys full seasons to prove themselves now? Clearly he's shown enough upside to stay on the roster. What does gloating about being right (which hasn't been determined) accomplish anyway?

Captain stone is exactly right. Why draft a small slow unathletic cb in the 2nd? Total reach. Bb lives to show disdain for consensus and it bit him this time.

If Hester cab actually catch a,punt he's better than anyone we have. Forget about returns just catch it.

So who are you taking off the 53 for him?

If you've decided to sign Hester, that likely means you've concluded that Cyrus Jones is not reliable enough to be your returner. So you likely either IR him with a fake injury or IR Jordan Richards. Or you cut Griff Whalen.

Put another way: if the Pats have decided that they need help in the return game, the question you're posing is a very minor obstacle in getting that help.

No, it was a legitimate question... i was curious to hear your opinion.

Not sure if they'd want to IR a DB right now, but maybe. I think Whalen might be odd man out, but I bet they like him better than Hester

Don't know if already mentioned in the thread, but Jones' problems with ball handling indirectly led to Amendola getting hurt.
Yeah, the old trickle down effect. That just sucks.

Wait!
Late to the thread. tl;dr
But didn't BB already TRADE Jones to Arizoner?

1) A 2nd round corner doesn't need to be a returner to have value. He is doing OK as the next CB up, with Rowe injured and Coleman not performing (or injured; not sure).

2) There is no particular reason to believe that Jones NEEDS to be a returner next year. There should be other options in addition to Jones.

3) If Whelan isn't the answer at returner, then we could pick up a returner and put someone on IR (Richards? Foster?).

No, no, no, you are confused. The usual sequence is:

1) The prospect struggles as a rookie, so we say he is a bust and he sucks
2) The prospect starts to contribute, and we worry about how much he will want on his next contract.
3) The prospect is traded away, and we decide that he sucks because the Pats didn't want him.

You are thinking of Chandler Jones, who sucks because we traded him away, reason (3). The board is talking about Cyrus Jones, who sucks because he is a rookie (1), wrong C. Jones.

Seems like Chatham liked what he saw from Cyrus as DB:

In a sea of hot takes that's all I need to hear to keep believing in the guy..
