Patriots Player Departure Conflicting reports on who was repsonsible for the decision to trade Jimmy (Kraft or Belichick???)

It is more likely we suck for 10 years than find a good QB in any given draft. It is more likely we wont see another SB appearance again than getting another HoF level QB. You dont have to like the odds but this is what it is.

Does this mean we will suck ? Most probably not but thinking that you can get a Derek Carr or even Alex Smith in any given draft is pretty ridiculous.

Dilfer has won a super bowl as well as Eli twice. It's a harder more luck driven route but it's possible to expect we won't suck for 10 years after Brady, we will be like everyone else and succeed every year or so. I hate hearing about how our season relies now on Brady not getting hurt because he's 40. If anyone has paid attention you can get hurt at any age not just 40. The mediots never mention this. How a 40 yr old Qb will cripple this team when he gets hurt? How about all these younger Qbs crippling their teams with season ending injuries? We should franchise Jag for 20mill just incase Brady gets hurt. These mead idiots have been waiting for Brady and our team to fail , forever. Jag wasn't going to be a savior anyways or else he'll still be here.

I hate to break the news to all the haters & doubters but the story's source is verified. The source was Bob Kraft and apparently it is because he is dissatisfied. Below is Bob Kraft himself at a press conference stating his dissatisfaction:

Steelers have six SB's...
We don't really need to go into the reasons how they have (I will never use the word "won" because that implies earning them) 6 SBs, do we?

Suck for 10 more years?

You're saying we can't find a Derek Carr in the draft? Or a deshaun Watson? We essentially have two late first round picks next year

Agree completely, the claim that they can’t find another talentedQB prospect with 3 picks in the top 64 in next year’s draft is ridiculous. In fact the best reason for not trading Garrapolo for a 2017 pick is that the 2017 draft was so bad at QB that it wouldn’t have made sense trying to replace Garrapolo in that draft, unless they had their eyes on Watson, and they apparently didn’t. The 2018 draft has a ton of talent at QB, and several will clearly be available to them as they have the capital to move up and get a 1st round QB with a locked in 5 year deal.

As if we'll ever know....

What about this sentence below confused you.

The Pats are one Lombardi away from being the greatest NFL franchise of all time.
The maths.

I'll take a few years of possibly sucking as the price to pay for a chance to win another Super Bowl or 2 with Brady.

I go back to the memory of 2001/2002 - I simply never thought we would ever win a Super Bowl and then we won 5.

Yeah I just can't get into this mercenary mindset when we're talking about the GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME.

If you don't want Brady to retire a Patriot after all he's done for us because you care more about our team's Madden stats in the next decade then I kind of think you're a huge piece of ****.

I understand 6=6. But I would love for someone to put up an argument that the Lombardi’s the pats won in a salary cap parity aren’t more impressive than the ones the Steelers won when taking steroids and keeping teams together was the norm

Beyond that all six would be won with the same coach and QB.

I wish I could give 10 winners for this. Brady is a once in a lifetime player who has actually taken less to win. You stand by him until he decides to hang them up, and you don’t worry about him sucking because he will be the first to know when it’s actually time for him to call it a career.

I personally care more about the Pats than Brady

I root for the laundry first and the meat second.

And as a Celtics fan in the 80s and 90s, I've already seen where your kind of thinking ends up taking a team.

The Brady vs. Pats argument is a almost certainly a false dichotomy. He's not going to insist on playing out his contract if he starts looking like 2015 vintage Peyton out there. When he's not better than everyone else on the roster he'll hang 'em up.

Jimmy G didn't want to stay here to be an eternal backup, and the Patriots weren't going to eat the franchise tag cost so they could have a disgruntled backup around. So the choice was either have him for another half of a season and see him walk for nothing, or let him go and get something instead.

The Celts had their first round pick (2nd overall) die in 86. They had another first round pick (22nd overall) die in 1993. Fnords type of thinking had a much lower impact than those two tragedies.

People also forget that JG could be a FA in a few years. At some point the pats may want him back and JG may decide to come back to the team (even for a discount) who did him a huge solid. That is worth a lot to the pats also.

Kyle’s offense is extremely difficult to learn.

Kind of not fair to throw jimmy in without the benefit of an offseason and training camp.

Should be very interesting to see if jimmy can do anything over there as the team has a ton of injuries.

I contributed one to the cause.
