I really liked Jimmy (still do and will root for him in SF) but if you said I could either have only 2 more years of Brady or trade him now and move on with Jimmy, I will take Brady every time. I would rather take 2 more years of Brady and then watch the Pats suck horribly for the next 10 years than move on from Brady before he’s ready to hang them up. The dude is the GOAT.
Oh no, I’m not saying that’s what I expect would happen... I’m just saying I would take that for more time with Brady. I would think that the team would more than likely find an above average QB at some point and they would continue to be good (maybe a few bad years) but not as good as with Brady.Suck for 10 more years?
You're saying we can't find a Derek Carr in the draft? Or a deshaun Watson? We essentially have two late first round picks next year
wilfork never got traded away.I read an interview with him about this very subject. There was another player kraft loved but Bb traded away and there was an argument that almost made Bb quit the organization. It many have been Wilfork. Kraft has admitted he won't interfere again and it has been the hardest part of owning this team but understands that's part of his job too. Of course Bb will talk about a Brady trade with kraft but he doesn't need his approval. FYI. I'm a Brady fan I want him to play at least 5 more years. I'm just going by what I read About the interview.
The Pats are one Lombardi away from being the greatest NFL franchise of all time. They already have the greatest dynasty of all time.
Brady is 1 or 2 Lombardis away from being considered one of the great team sports althletes of all time. He is already up there but if he wins 1/2 more he will be in Russell/Ruth area. It will be undisputed.
You dont give up on any of this because you are worried 5-6 years from now an older Brady cant get it done and you dont quite have the correct backup. Maybe the correct backup is the next guy?
As great as sustained excellence is there are some things (once in a lifetime things) that are more important.
brady already passed russell in my book. nobody really considers russell the GOAT.
brady is already in the mt. rushmore of GOATs IMO. whoever those GOATs are they better have a spot for brady
considering it was an 8- or 9-team league for most of those championships, it's not nearly as impressive.Like I said, he is already up there. As much as I want to be a Brady guy and I do think he has surpassed Jordan etc, that 9 in a row thing is hard to overlook. Especially given the competition he faced. Plus I have seen Russell rated the greatest team sports player, or runner up, so how is that not considered the GOAT? Then again many have Jordan over him and TB>Jordan...so....

i never understood that argument. the pool of talent is much larger now than it was then, not to mention the money is so much bigger that development starts at a much younger age.True but a lot of peeps will say he faced more elite competition since the talent wasnt watered down. I can see putting TB over BR because of the overall longevity, dominance and the fact he played in a league that had caps and all that.
Like I said, its great that we pats/TB homers think one thing but I would be curious to see what the objective sports experts think.
If that happens, the did TB make BB debate will go on for all time. But if TB retires and the Pats suck under BB, there will be a stronger argument for TB made BB. Personally, I think they made each other great. BTW, who is the backup?
That's not a very good argument to use when arguing for Brady over Russell, given that for every championship a Brady-led team has won, they've had a first-round bye. And they've never even made it into the championship round without getting a first-round bye.also, for many of those championships, the celtics had a bye the first round of a 3-round playoff. so they often only had to win 2 playoff series to win the championship.
i wasn't really making a brady/russell comparison (even though i did jump into the middle of that thread). different sports plus different eras make it hard to compare. That's not a very good argument to use when arguing for Brady over Russell, given that for every championship a Brady-led team has won, they've had a first-round bye. And they've never even made it into the championship round without getting a first-round bye.
