Chung, Flowers & Rowe out Sunday

The defense is losing a slow strong safety, a corner who can’t cover and a pass rusher who did bumpkus against Jacksonville.

Why all the consternation?

There's a reason they were starters. Players behind them are worse.

The young men that are apparently hurt received their injuries during the game last week. There may be a slight advantage to having time to plan for their absence.

I'm interested to see how they handle the safety position. They could play 2 safety sets with Harmon and Dmac (with one of them taking Chung's role) and rely on more corners in nickel and dime packages. Alternatively, Jmac or even Cyrus Jones could play some safety. Or will they be comfortable with Ebner taking more snaps?

It would help if you actually watched the games, Ochmed. Flowers went down during Jacksonville's 1st drive and was out for the game. Before that, however, he'd already forced a fumble. The entire game changes if Flowers doesn't get injured.

Ebner is a safety in name only. Other than special teams, he played only a few plays on
defense in college.

If there’s a game to play a bunch of two deep safeties with a linebacker (not Chung) on the tight end, this is it. In the first two weeks, Detroit’s four tight ends each have one catch, for a total of 40 yards. Make them beat you with those guys.

Flowers played 7 snaps and forced a fumble before having someone fall on his head and give him a concussion.

You might have known that if you actually paid attention and weren't the run of the mill score watching "fan" that only comes to PatsFans to s**t post

Agree, but sometimes ST players need to play on offense or defense in case of injuries. With Chung out and if Jmac is at corner for Rowe, there may be little choice if they want a 3 safety set.

Ebner does have some experience on defense. He played 18 snaps in 2016 and 45 in 2015. I could see him getting a handful of snaps this week.

Flowers is good but he’s always hurt

Didn’t flowers leave the game early? Can’t really rip him for not doing much when he barely played.

This week it’s flowers is good but he’s always hurt. The week before, burkhead is good but he’s always hurt. Before that, Cannon is good but he’s always hurt. Who is going to be next weeks whipping boy?

Yikes - three starters from a D that has had issues... hope they other guys are ready to pick up the slack.
The d was good in the first game. These 3 missed most of the 2nd game.

Rowe being out is a blessing in disguise with his 95% completion percentage on D.

Didn’t know it was that bad. Yeah he needs a lot of improvment and maybe Chung can find some speed while he is on the sideline.

Someone needs to put together film of Chung being 2 steps behind his guy near every route. That would end that.

I would vote for Hollister as the new oft-injured whipping boy, but he doesn’t really fit the criteria since he hasn’t really proven himself to be “good” yet.
