Chucky being named Raiders coach on Tuesday.

One of the most over-hyped coaches ever, not saying he isn't a good coach. Just the hype about him is next level.

Although I do love the fact that he took a team that Dungy had built and the first year won a SB...

The only time he had a good QB in Tampa was when Brad Johnson played well in 2002.
Game manager at QB and a HOF defense to win title? Sounds familiar...

I give Rich Mckay a helluva lot more credit in building TB prior to Chucky than Dungy.

Same for the Dolts. Dungy is a good coach but he already had Peyton owning the offense and a-hole as GM

Dungy= overrated.

This is almost as bad as the Phil Jackson contract. If John Gruden is getting 100 million, Bill deserves 2 billion. Insane.

10M per year for a SB-winning coach? Sure, that makes sense to me. Honestly, if you aren't willing to bet that your coach is worth $10M you probably shouldn't be hiring him in the first place.

But... giving a 10 year deal to a guy who hasn't coached in basically a decade? That's ****ing insanity. What happens if 4 years from now they haven't made meaningful progress and it becomes quickly apparent the game has passed Gruden by in the decade he's been away? You can't very well fire the guy, unless you're willing to eat $60M while he retires, which by the way is over 10% of Mark Davis' net worth.

But...but their QB is going to be 27 still well in his prime. They have a Stacked Roster that lacks good Coaching. You make the move that puts you over the top. Gruden is proven I don't see any down side to the move. Gruden will be the Best HC in that division. Barring serious injuries they will be contenders in the AFC.

I think Gruden has been in the booth too long to be successful in his return to coaching. We’ll see what happens but that’s my view of it.
but he’s not long in the booth though

I think this is a by-product of being a member of the media. By taking a prominent media job, you get to look like a genius because it is so easy to Monday-morning QB the whole time. You get to raise your profile, keep your name out there, etc, etc. You gain a legend of being better and smarter than you actually were.

Gruden was a good coach, and should be a significant upgrade over Del Rio.

He’s a good coach don’t know why people don’t like him. He really knows his stuff. Considering all the firings and downsizing bspn is doing it wasn’t a stable environment, plus that’s a lot of money:

Always liked Gruden. Welcome back, baby!!
