Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

You, ALREADY, have been proven wrong on this one. JG clearly is a round one quality QB.

No I am not wrong and clearly zero other teams agree with you. That’s fact, not opinion.

Can’t wait til around 2033 when people say “Well Brady did say he wasn’t playing in 2035...”

At least now he's officially established an outer limit. We can slowly start walking it back from there.
I'll go out on a limb and say he won't be playing in 2030.

Brady essentially outlasted Luck (or likely will). He could outlive other greats who started after him like Rivers, Eli, Ben, maybe Rodgers, etc. Perhaps he outlast Jimmy G.

The draft value chart seems to show that if we package the likely JG 2nd round slot with our own low first, it would be a fair trade to get into the top 10. Rosen is going very early but I’m sure one or two of them would be there.
If we through in Brady as well could we get the number one? /sarc

Kind of OT but there’s a report today Rosen does not want to be drafted by Cleveland. Hmm...

Couldn't find it, would take you about 5 seconds to post a link, but it's fine.

I only use my phone and have never figured out how to link with it, that’s why I have never linked to anything, instead I just quote or reply. Ask Ian or a mod how to get to the NFL Forum, it’s readily available there.

Belichick refused Browns himself, and I am talking about now, after having won 4 straight in very impressive way with Niners. So, yes, YOU are very wrong and should revisit your thinking.
EDIT: Niners would have given their ONE now if they knew what they know now.

It's a shame how Luck's career has been shut down. Aside from his flaws and lack of development as a QB, the pathetic excuses for coaching, front office work and oline play are major reasons he is now a 2018 CPOTY candidate.

If the Patriots can trade up into a position to draft one of the Big Three QBs this April... watch the hand wringing about JG disappear.

They found Garrapolo in the 2nd and players like Watson and Prescott were also available after the first. I’m fine with whatever route they take.

I don’t think Luck is done anytime soon, I still think Luck is great. Difficult to blame him for the worst managed team in the league from Grigson and mediocre coaching from Pagano. I bet he’d have won a Super Bowl in Seattle too.

Ha.. probably. Or even Gronk.
Well, that is actually interesting in the sense that everyone is talking about how important the future QB is. Would you trade our 2nd, our 1st, AND Gronk for the number one pick overall? (and they have to throw in some random pass rusher or a late round pick too)

That was one report, based on just one Cleveland source as I mentioned earlier in this topic. Unsubstantiated.

I highly doubt Belichick would have refused any first rounder for Garoppolo or any QB with 6 quarters of experience who got KOed after one hit.

I actually agree with you about Luck. Forgetting the injury, he is the worst example ever of couching destroying talent at that position I have ever seen. Imagine if he had been in Jimmy's spot for 3 seasons, learning our system behind Brady, and what he would be like. Jimmy is still better though.

All I am saying is you and I are talking about 2 different things. NOW, after how he has transformed the 49ers, no GM in the league would not rate him round 1.

Fair enough- yes I was always talking about JG on the Patriots trade block.

Is he worth a first rounder now? I guess someone might think so. That’s for the 49ers to deal with. I know he was never going to get the experience here that he got there...

Serious question for people who say we should have traded Brady:

How many SBs would Brady have to win from this point on (aka since trading Jimmy G) to make you feel the Pats made the right move?

One championship? Two? Three?

Edit: Nunchucks, you seem to have disliked this post for some reason. Why not just give an answer instead?

It's zero for me. There wasn't really a decision other than to cut bait with Brady too early. The timing didn't work out. It sucks but it is what it is.

The Garoppolites are just a little edgier right now because of JG's great start with the 49ers. I mean he's on pace to win 300 regular season starts in a row for God's sake.

Seriously though I'm enjoying this season and am happy for JG's success. We'll see how this plays out in the long run as far as who will be the next Patriots QB but until then I'll enjoy watching Brady doing what Brady does

Winning the Super Bowl this year now has become critical in order to ease the Jimmy angst for at least one off season! We need to bask in a Lombardi number six, a repeat, and a second 3 out of 4 just to offset our deep anguish of losing Jimmy. Also, can you imaging the outpouring of woes during this off season over losing the Next Michael Jordan of football if we come up empty handed this post season.
