And now Jimmy is playing better than Tom. It really hurts.Agre 100%. First Orr, then Gretzky, then Jordan, and now Jimmy Garrapolo has been traded.
The humanity
No one even thought of the children.
We wouldn’t get squat. He is a UFA.Brady has the greatest coach of all time. Even if JG doesn't win the SB, that doesn't mean JG's future performance isn't be better than Brady's future.
The thing that Brady apologists don't get is that JG looks incredibly good right now. He's turned a team from potential worst in league to playoff calibre. He also looked really good in his 1.5 games last year. He's not a flash in the pan. He has composure, leadership, drive, etc.
Now, even with the above, I don't tihnk trading him was wrong. I do, however, think the Pat's could've taken the approach this year where they play Garropollo more in the 4th q or whenever we have a 10+ pt lead. It would give Brady some rest -- meaning more likilhiood he would be injury free in the playoffs as over 50% of the last dozen playoffs he has not been 100%. Also would've showcased Jimmy so that when we traded him in this offseason we could've gotten a better pick.

we put the franchise tag on cassel and got a 2nd. Like I said, if Garrapollo was showcased and Brady given some rest, I think we would've gotten a 1st even with the high price of the franchise on the receiving team, and also the benefit of him as a backup thru the playoffs this year.

SF could probably get 2+ 1st round picks this offseason if they choose to trade him after he's played just 6 more games.

There is zero chance we would get a first round pick for JG and that kind of contract.
No mystery there, BB wanted to keep him.The really puzzling thing is why Belichick didn’t shop him before the draft?

What's that got to do with shopping Garoppolo before the draft? Then why did he scoff at Lynch when Lynch asked if Brady was available?

Who said anything about moving on from Brady before the season started? I didn't. The answer to your question is obvious: BB wanted to find a way to keep both QBs.That’s when the conversation took place. Lynch called and asked if Garrapolo was available, Belichick said no, then he asked if Brady was available and Lynch said Belichick literally scoffed at him. That doesn’t sound like a GM looking to move in from his 40 year old QB.

BB tried to keep JG by signing him to a bridge deal and JG wouldn't bite. BB suggested so himself indirectly during the presser that announced the trade. It explains why he didn't move him earlier. You’re a smart guy Tunescribe, you know that was impossible.
