Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

I did not call you a troll. My post may have sounded too generalized which I regret, in so far as I regret a post.

I'm primarily talking about the people doom and glooming about how horrible this is already. I myself acknowledge Garoppolo looks like a stud. It may turn out to be a wrong decision in retrospect but for me it would take quite a bit of success for JG to lament it coupled with a free fall or very soon retirement from Brady (without another SB). If we draft a good QB then I won't consider it a big blunder.

I should also note that I've largely become disillusioned with the NFL in general for a number of reasons. I don't really see myself watching attentively after Brady/Belichick. So from my perspective I guess I'm not as invested in 5 or even 10 years from now. That means I'd probably be satisfied with one or two more Super Bowls for those two. I assume I'll just be a casual viewer at most once the Brady era ends.
Thanks for the reasonable response. As often seems the case in opposing views we share a lot of common ground.

I'm very interested in the whole team-building process and how to consistently attain excellence, so I'll be watching after Brady retires to see how BB solves that problem. And after BB retires, to see how RFK/JK solve that one.

I also expect that Brady's dad will be correct about the ending, although it may not be as messy as folks expect. I think it's likely to be sooner than #12 wants it to be, and when BB decides that having him on the field instead of whatever alternative is available at the time it will trigger a firestorm that will make all the past Patriots controversies seem tame.

Incidentally, I'd love to be wrong about a lot of what I foresee, but I've got to call it as I see it.

prescott looked pretty good last year....so good that it effectively ended tony romos career.
That's not exactly a high bar.

dak prescott looked like a franchise QB last year, derek carr looked like a franchise QB last year...carson wentz/deshaun watson looked like franchise QB's this year...

Prescott was also throwing behind a great OL with a great RB. Coincidentally once his RB got suspended he started sucking.

JG has a bad OL, no top RB, and didn't go to training camp with SF. And he still looks good.

this dude better back up off my man.....not willing to share him

im not saying hes not a good starting QB in this league. just saying that there are other good QB's out there with a bigger sample size who you wouldn't exactly trade TB12 for when he is playing at still a high level.

its more likely he is dak prescott/kirk cousins than tom brady....very good QB to have. But you cant trade away an effective brady for that if your goal is championships

JG beat the #1 defense with his #1 receiver being a FB

A few weeks ago

22 for 38
241 yards
2 TD
1 INT

27-24 win over the Jags

Who was the QB?

Blaine Gabbert

The Jaguars defense has come back down to earth. They have given up 24 or more 3 of the past 5 weeks, including giving up 37 today. They aren’t even the leaders in PA anymore.

It's extremely impressive any way you slice it. Cast offs like Goodwin. Rookies like Kittle & Taylor.

He's elevating the players around him & beating the teams in front of him.

That second rounder's not looking too good at the moment. I was hoping they picked up a good qb with that early pick.

Teams will have more film on Jimmy G next year...so it remains to be seen how he can adjust to those teams adjusting to him.
What is it you think they'll 'adjust' to? His lightening release and clear ability to make the necessary reads?

That’s what I’ve been impressed by watching him. His fast release reminds me of Marino. Sudden twitch and the ball is gone. Hell he could throw two passes in the time it would take Tebow to throw one.

Pressure will be on Bill come the second round.

No pressure on BB. He’s moved on. He has an MVP candidate (fav) at QB and is coming off SB-championship-SB with two trophies in three years. He is regarded as the greatest coach ever.

I’d say there is less pressure on BB than on any coach, maybe since the days the coach owned the team.
