It's easy, and only takes a few moments. They gave him an extensionI’ll say it again: not giving Brady the extension he wanted was a bad move by the Patriots. For the first time, the Patriots themselves are “the doubters” that motivate Brady. He has talked about playing into his mid-40s for years. He has taken so many hometown discounts and increased the value of this franchise in a massive way. The Patriots should be bending over backwards to let Brady decide how long he wants to play for. While most NFL players don’t have the luxury of making these decisions, Brady is the greatest ever and one of the most beloved athletes in sports history (by his fans.). Instead he is uncertain about the next few years, whether he will need to put his kids into new schools and relocate the family, etc.
If for a couple of years the Patriots aren’t 1000% competitive due to their loyalty to Brady, then so be it. The guy has been far from Brett Favre in his overtures about wanting to continue playing...they have already moved on from Jimmy G. to ride out the Brady train. Brady is just synonymous with this dynasty and the Patriots greatest run in pro sports history. Don’t put the fans in a scenario where he’s playing for another team. Do the Lakers regret overpaying Kobe for his last few years? The Yankees with Derek Jeter? Absolutely not. This is one case where a year too late is indeed better than a hear too early. Fandom is a huge part of the NFL, and this is such an enormous thing for so many Patriots fans, keeping #12 though his retirement.
He signed it.Yes, a fake extension that voids so isn’t a real extension is exactly what he wanted
I've really been wondering why the hell they've been carrying Cody Kessler almost all year long. It just occurred to me that Bill may be grooming Kessler as the backup next year, or possibly to set up a QB competition between him and Stidham if he really likes Kessler.
Obviously we all love Brady, but if Bill thinks Stidham (or I guess Kessler) is at least above average then Bill frees up quite a lot of cap space for several years to make some substantial moves. QB gets worse but your line might get better, you can get a TE... He may think he can win with defense and trust his young QB to keep things above water and make some plays at the end like in the old days before Tom was Tom.
Just thinking out loud.
Belichick would never draft someone at the quarterback position with a near all time low Wonderlic score and the physical characteristics of fetal alcohol syndrome.Had TWO opportunities to draft Lamar Jackson
Jackson 25 TD 5 INT, 109 passer rating...950 yards rushing
Ouch, I take it you thought Jackson was a 7th Rd WR?Belichick would never draft someone at the quarterback position with a near all time low Wonderlic score and the physical characteristics of fetal alcohol syndrome.

Why are people here just assuming that Brady wants kookoo bananas insane contract terms when he's never done that before? Where is this even coming from? Did somebody post a rumor on twitter that everybody's just taking as gospel or something?
It's like a clique of posters here just started taking it for granted that Brady is acting in bad faith trying to crap on the team out of nowhere and it's confusing as hell.
Kessler is here because Brady's been banged up and sitting out practices, so they brought in another player to help break up the reps so that Stidham wouldn't have to run everything. I recall Mike Reiss talking about it a while ago and it makes sense. I also recall Brady even admitting recently he's had to miss a few practices over the last month after getting nicked up. So that's likely the reason.I've really been wondering why the hell they've been carrying Cody Kessler almost all year long. I suppose that makes sense, but curious why that player has to be on the 53 to do so and can’t be someone on the practice squad. Seems like there’s at least slightly more investment in the player from Bill beyond just having someone to help Stidham.Kessler is here because Brady's been banged up and sitting out practices, so they brought in another player to help break up the reps so that Stidham wouldn't have to run everything. I've been fortunate to know people with a lot of money (a lot more than Brady has).I doubt Brady needs the extra money. Maybe he still feels underappreciated. Seems odd that he all of a sudden wants to get paid more money when this team really needs the salary cap room to sign players who may be able to help him.
and so?....you wanna SHARE some of that good fortune with the rest of us poor slobs? I'll work as chauffeur/gardener/Man Friday/bodyguard and dog sitter for the right price...I've been fortunate to know people with a lot of money (a lot more than Brady has).
At some point, it's "all about the money" for all of them.
Whether we like it or not, money is the yardstick. Yes, Rings and Lombardi's matter...of course they do. But, in the end, it's "Follow the money."
Breaking: Brady possibly staying in New England?
It ain't my good fortune, it's their's...most people with that kind of money aren't into "sharing."and so?....you wanna SHARE some of that good fortune with the rest of us poor slobs? I'll work as chauffeur/gardener/Man Friday/bodyguard and dog sitter for the right price...
