Julian Edelman doesn't tend to get the credit and respect he deserves around the league, but one former player took notice in a recent ESPN segment, putting him ahead of some notable names which created some controversy.

Hold your horses there. The NYJFL* will eventually get the NFLPA to agree to 18 games a season. Apparently "Jerrah" is involved in the CBA talks. You know, as much of a piece of **** sub-human he is, he's going to get what he wants. And then he's also going to get the playoffs expanded to a 16 team playoff. So Brady needs to win the next 4 Super Bowl's. Then his record might be safe.

Realistically, no, it should be meaningless, but I'm sure these numbers and who bested who will be more important to the QBs (not necessarily their legacies, but for bragging rights) once the three of them are retired.

Well, if Brady and Brees keep flip flopping as the record holder throughout the year I just hope they don't do a ceremony each time. That would be tiresome.

    Marino.

Breed’ team did win that SB appearance so there’s that. Also, who knows what would have happened this year if the Saints hadn’t been screwed by that PI non-call in the NFCCG. I think Brees has been amazing, not a Brady but close to it. And yeah, not having a good defense most of the time hurts.

That PI non-call has really been milked dry. The Rams were hosed the previous series when touching Goff’s helmet didn’t result in an automatic first down. That was a huge odds swing. Brees was dreadful that game...his first half success was a bunch of Kamara screens and trickery with combo threat QB. The Saints were extremely fortunate that they were in position to put the game away after Brees threw multiple errant passes to open receivers in the 2nd half, then that under thrown duck to Ginn they somehow wasn’t picked off.

What would have happened if they hadn’t been screwed by then on-PI call? Did you see the game? The Saints got the ball first and Brees got picked off. It’s not like the game was over.

I don’t see why people can’t just acknowledge he played an absolutely terrible game and cop out on one blown call. The Patriots got totally nosed against the Chiefs with defensive holding and PIs being different standards. Bottom line is Brady made critical throw after critical throw and then marched them down the field - in the most pressure packed moments - to win the game. Without getting into Brees’s career as a whole, can we just acknowledge that he totally sucked in that game? It’s unreal how the double standard exists. Can you imagine if that were Rodgers or Ryan putting up that performance in an NFCCG and then getting picked after winning the toss in OT?

Actually, not having a good defense HELPS a QBs's overall stat accumulation.

    Sample Comparisons:
Brady SB 38 vs Brady SB 39
Brady SB 53 vs Brady SB 52.

Not to mention the career of Dan Fouts.

The Saints' have mostly been the Doug Moe Denver Nuggets of the NFL and each year they at a minimum play 11 games either in a dome, Carolina and Tampa Bay.

They should change their team logo to Sloe Gin Fizz.

Bingo. Just look at Brees stats last year. He didn’t crack 4K yards but it was probably his best season as a pro. Good efficiency helps defense by keeping the other team off the field and playing with a lead. Brees cracking 5K yards all these years does not impress me. His 2019 season, with its low yardage and high efficiency/low turnovers, was way more impressive.

I wonder how Dolphin fans feel every time they watch Brees. Miami opted to sig Daunte Culpepper instead of Brees. Daunte threw 2 TD in Miami while Drew threw 440 TDs and another 33 in the playoffs....

Brady does hold one more record I haven't seen mentioned. he has thrown for the most yardage with one team, 70,514. Manning and Brees have more yardage but both did it for two separate teams.....

The dome thing is so huge with these stats.

    Like apples and oranges.

You can't compare a guy who plays 6 games from Thanksgiving onward in the cold to a guy that either plays in his dome (New Orleans) or otherwise another dome (Atlanta) or else a warm weather place (Tampa) and mild weather (Carolina) around November/December.

Because they play division games at the end of the schedule, the Patriots will find themselves either at Foxboro, the Meadowlands or Buffalo for 4 or 5 games every single year from Thanksgiving to the end.

That's like 1/4th or 1/3rd of the season played in cold weather every year.

Getting tired of the Brees rhetoric regarding if they had made it there.

Firstly. It was a horribly thrown ball with no zip on it. He seemed to be breaking down the last 4 or 5 games.

2nd. Had they made it some predicted it would of been a different result. Maybe? But what I do know is BB has a way of taking away things from the other team by design. If you don’t think they would of had something for Kamara and Thomas than you haven’t been following. Not sure if the Pats would of scored only 13 points either.

Anyway, still the champs until at least February of 2020. Maybe 2021.

Obv. That part of the point was more about Brees not winning as much as Brady, which I’m blaming on a lot of years of weak D. Brady didn’t win much during the years of weak D either. You have to acknowledge that not every QB could run that O, though, puffed up though the stats are. I think the guy is elite.

I’m also kind of surprised by the bashing of our brothers in Goodell porkage.

You should go to some Saints boards or read some comments that reference Brady as GOAT. They’re just like every other fan base, other than slightly less hatred because they haven’t lost as much to the Pats. Brady = system qb is their rallying point. It’s funny because Brees is probably the quintessential non-improvising QB, which isn’t a knock on his game (I like the quick release and pre-snap decision making) but talk about calling the kettle black.

"Brady didn’t win much during the years of weak D either."

WHOOOOAAAAA Nellie!!!!! (apologies to the family of Keith Jackson)

Since 2007, Brees has had FIVE seasons at 7-9 and ONE season at 8-8

Brady has never been worse than 10-6 during that period. His career worst was 9-7 in 2002.

I'm not seeing the relative argument there.

Yikes. I meant win SB, I thought we were discounting regular season wins as less meaningful. As I recall Brady went 10 years without winning an SB, mostly due to weak D. Brees has had the same problem for some time.

You get that I’m not arguing Brees > Brady, just that Brees is excellent, right?

So sorry. I had no idea that you 'meant' to write "win SB". My bad.

To be fair to Saban and the Phins, Brees was coming off a pretty bad shoulder injury. Last game of his career as a Charger he tore the labrum in his throwing shoulder and damaged his rotator cuff. That being said I’m pretty sure Culpepper tore his knee up the same season Brees got hurt.

I really like Brees. Seems like a humble guy. Great accuracy. Helped NO when the city was really a mess. Cool birthmark. Won a SB that I really wanted him to win. About my height and weight. Put headphones on his kid. Did not go to Miami. Did leave San Diego. Probably hates Goodell. Lives in a cool city. Old but no one really talks about that.

    Solid dude IMO.

For the record, I’m not bashing the guy. He is one of the best to play the position. Just tired of some that just think it was a given the Patriots would of lost had they drawn them instead. It’s a naive statement is all.
