Boutte available for trade?

I wouldn't do it. The irony is that you trade him to a team with an injury without consideration that an injury could happen to any player at any time on your team.

Yeah, I’d rather keep him unless it’s for a pick higher than expected (which is unlikely) or for a position of need (Edge, LB, TE etc..).

Yes it's not that much of a stretch to think Bill both consulted with a collaboration and he had final say. It's not like they took a vote in the draft room and winner prevailed.

Perhaps not a vote; but remember the scene in the draft room when Bill was about to call in the Corky pick, he looks to no one in particular and says, We all good with this...?

Bill still had full control even if he consulted with a collaboration. Howe even reported that the "collaboration" fell apart in 2022.

Which makes sense. Highly doubtful any collaboration group who had any meaningful say whatsoever would have allowed Bill to hire Matt Patricia as his offensive coordinator. That ought to tell you right there that there is no doubt at all Bill had full control.

Did that story indicate if the Collaboration fell-apart before or after the Horrible 2022 draft?

He never announced the change in Belichick's total control because it never changed. Let me post the exerpt from the article you posted.

“Belichick liked Jones, but he also liked quarterback Davis Mills,” Howe wrote. “Belichick also was dead set on taking a quarterback at that spot. But Jones was the Patriots’ highest-rated player, and they desperately needed a quarterback after going 7-9 with Cam Newton in their first season without Tom Brady. Belichick appeared content to wait for Mills … but relinquished to the staff’s strong push for Jones, according to league sources.”

So basically the article says Belichick could have overruled his staff and waited for Mills. He chose not to. He wasn't overruled. It was his decision to defer to his staff. That is no different than him making the choice himself in terms of responsibility for the pick. Jones was as much on him as it was his staff.

And even Howe says that Belichick like Mac Jones. He just didn't want to take a QB that high.

I wonder whom Bill would've taken instead of Corky...?

As the post said, Mills.

Lots of folks thought that Belichick might trade down to the bottom of the 1st or into the 2nd to overdraft Mills. Mills was drafted in the 3rd and is an OK backup QB.

Given that the QB's are approximately equal, I don't think the compensation for moving diwn would have made all that much difference. We would have been in the playoffs that year and with Josh gone, out of the playoff with a mismanaged QB the next.
