Borges "James White had no role"

What the hell is he talking about???

He was in on 29 snaps vs Pitt. Had 3 catches. D Lew had 2 catches and 17 snaps.

The game plan was throw downfield past 5 yards of the LoS.

Ryan's fastball is down to about 30mph nowadays.
Borges' hovers at about 40mph.
Both should have fully retired a few years back.

Couple of curmudgeons....

I get that the media are paid to express their opinions.

That said, the way they go about it they are the epitome of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

A little bit of knowledge and they start equating their opinion as factual.

The perpetually pessimistic are just as biased in their self-delusion and biases as the homers they love to pretend they are so superior to.

What a great quote!

Our media is so damn terrible. There are flaws in covering all aspects of the world and in all locations, but Boston sports in particular (and especially Patriots writers) is among the worst of the worst. Thank God for the few like Mike Reiss, Tom Curran, Jeff Howe.

Seriously, does Ron Borges even understand football? This guy gets paid big bucks to do his job. Yet we have @rookBoston for free do an infinitely better breakdown of the 1st touchdown here: Breakdown of Hogan's first TD: how wide open in the end zone? -- illustrating how White played a pivotal role in creating the score which put them up 10-0 early. Yet guys like Borges have the power and influence to get our coaches fired, to sway national opinion, etc. It's damn sickening is what it is.

A coupe of years ago, I got into an email back and forth with Bob Ryan about the Patriots. I initiated the exchange with a polite message and he responded very similarly as he did to you, only worse and more insulting. Honestly, it was shocking. He's one angry, resentful guy when it comes to the Pats and their fans.

It's amazing how little accountability these pundits have. Borges has been spouting the exact same crap for 17 years, has been wrong on almost every take during that time, yet still acts as if he has credibility. Much the same goes for Masserrotti, Felger, Shaugnessy etc... etc... And much the same goes for the chicken littles on this board who routinely talk down Belichick and the Patriots and spout their negativity as though it has a basis in fact when in truth it is just the opposite. The Patriots have consistently defied all of the gloom and doom these tools spout and they have instead been the single most successful franchise in football over this time span. Unfortunately the media are a club and they don't challenge these idiots on the garbage they spew and they continue to rip away at a franchise that has no peers. Borges is a clown and he should be treated as such, and the same goes for the rest of the idiots.

I don't want to rely on crappy sports truisms to knock off this prevailing notion about the quality of the 2016/17 Patriots, but can we for a second please recall that almost any team that beats the Patriots reacts like they've won their mini-Superbowl?

The Patriots don't sneak up on anyone. More than any franchise, they "have a target on their back" (sorry crappy sports cliche). Every game they play, their opponent of professional coaches/staff/players would LOVE to knock off BB and Brady to prove something to their stakeholders.

For instance, think for 5 seconds about the tone of the storylines that would've come out of Miami if they'd beaten the Patriots in week 17. Hot team going into the playoffs! Dangerous! Matt Moore could absolutely lead you to the AFC Championship Game! D's showing that they're coming together at the right time - they sacked Brady like the NYG did! Look out 17/18 AFCE, new sheriff in town!

You think the Broncos didn't want to beat the Patriots at home? You think the Ravens wanted to lose to the Patriots with a playoff slot on the line or that the Cardinals didn't think this was the year they'd go to the Superbowl?

The NFL is full of pathologically competitive people. It's an "any given Sunday" league (apologies for cliched garbage, again). The Patriots' rivals collect big checks for doing what they do, and they surely never plan on rolling over for the Patriots - it's just what normally ends up happening due to the game's outcome.

coule Bob Ryan explain how the Patriots run to the Superbowl has been more fortuitous than Atlanta's?

With a sober, straight face that is?

Ryan is simply just clueless about football. He has become more and more irrelevant in the Boston area, just like the rest of us who are in their 70's. ;) And he's DEFINITELY lost a lot off his fastball. Sometimes I think some of his comments are designed to create antipathy the same way Felger and Tanguay have done so successfully

Borges is just a punk. You'd think he'd know a little bit more about football since he's been covering it for a major paper in this city for more than 25 years, but he has no clue. What he does have is an agenda, and it started during the Parcells era

Borges was always a Parcells media suck up (and still is) who started his hatred of the Pats and Kraft during the last years of Parcells' tumultuous and cowardly exit. He was among the leaders of a media who seemed inclined to make Pete Carrol's life miserable in NE, and finally went off the rails when the Patriots traded the last Pats player who would talk to him (Bledsoe).

Since that time Borges has had ZERO sources within the Pats management OR locker room. He offers ZERO insight since he knows nothing more than cliches about the game. It is a abomination that he has a HOF vote. He offers ZERO information since he doesn't know anything or quite frankly, care about the Pats other than continuing his anti-Pats, anti- Kraft agenda. It is hard to believe that he is gainfully employed by the media and gets air time.

New York City plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Comparing the most recent photo of Bob Ryan to previous images, Bob’s eyebrows appear elevated and peaked in their center. Due to the lack of evidence of incisions one may suspect an endoscopic brow lift. However the unnatural kink in the center of each brow leads to the suspicion of a thread brow lift. I don’t know what’s going on with his lips. It is either a bad allergic reaction or some overzealous injections. Hopefully they will look better when the swelling goes down.”

Bob’s new appearance draws comparisons to clowns, with his over-inflated lips, and other victims of bad plastic surgery.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., says, “It looks as though he’s had a brow lift, facelift, lips injected with a filler. He looks pulled, unnatural and absolutely fake. Like Burt Reynolds.”

Male plastic surgery, especially around the eyes, can leave men with a somewhat feminine appearance like Kenny Rogers. Men usually don’t use lip fillers because they too can look somewhat feminine.

Some sources have attributed Bob’s new appearance to a dermatological procedure to prevent cancer, although it is unclear how that would affect his appearance so drastically.

Make Me Heal thinks that until his plastic surgery settles in, or his allergic reaction dissipates, it is best if Bob sticks to writing his commentary rather than going live.

Accountability to what?

Accuracy? NO!
Superior knowledge of the subject? NO!
Fairness? HELL NO!

Clicks?

No, these aren't journalists. They're op-ed guys, and whether it's sports radio or political talk radio, they're paid to do things that will never jibe with your demand for accountability.

On a talk radio show, job #1 is to get the lines lit up. When you speak along the lines of conventional wisdom, that rarely happens. Listeners will nod silently.

But say something controversial, or something that is so mind-numbingly stupid to a knowledgeable fan, and you've just demanding that he/she call in to set you straight.

Also, many in the field have ulterior motives, passed down from on high, to put forth a particular perspective for means beyond the show itself.

There's plenty of accountability - it's just not to the things you think.

Does it even matter at this point? The only goal is to outscore the other team and i trust that Brady and the pats can do that.

Wether they do or not I don't know but I know the pats can drop 30 on any one. Hopefully they can get 4 tds and the defense can work with that

What role was he suppose to have when Edelman and Hogan combined for 17 catches, 298 yards, 3 TD

Awesome breakdown, thanks for sending me there.

"The Pats have had the most fortuitous route to the Super Bowl ever." Is that so?

The 2008 Steelers earned the #3 seed in a Brady-less AFC that was so bad that Kerry Collins' Titans went 13-3. Pittsburgh then managed to draw an 8 - 8 Chargers team in the divisional round after SD knocked out the only other "contender" in the playoff field - the Colts. In the AFC championship, the Steelers hosted a Baltimore team starting a rookie QB whose top skill players were LeRon McClain, Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton.

Bob Ryan needs to check his facts.

I wish we could run dan shaugnessy and borges out of town..im not sure who is worse?

The scary thing is that, once Borges, Shaughnessy, and Ryan step away and their opinions are no longer heard in the media, their successors will probably be worse.

I don't see the people who can look at the team objectively (meaning pros and cons, not just cons) and appreciate what they've accomplished over the last 17 years, like Curran, Hurley and Reiss, getting picked to fill those roles. We'll probably see the likes of Volin, Tanguay, Trenni and Alex Reimer being picked as the "voice of the New England fan."
