At least they got Unitas on there.
Otto Graham
Bobby Layne
Sammy Baugh
Bart Starr
Bob Waterfield
Norm Van Brocklin
And there are plenty of others that I probably would not place in the top 25, but would still rank higher than Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, etc., such as:
Fran TarkentonWas it click bait, or genuinely uneducated?
Y.A. Tittle
Ken Stabler
Len Dawson
Daryle Lamonica
John Hadl
Dan Fouts
Waterfield was before my time (thankfully), but I recall reading some very positive things about his play, specifically in comparison to his peers. That other list is so off the charts that it has to be click bait. Plus, nobody could be that uneducated.
I had Waterfield on my computer list but I didn't have his information. I'll have to work on that.
The list got 1 right and 2-25 wrong.
Any top QB list that doesn't begin with Brady, Montana, Starr, and Graham (the order of the latter 3 can be debated) is an automatic fail. I would be begrudgingly accepting of the Fivehead getting the 5th spot, he did at least have one 2nd half of one post-season game where he didn't crap his pants.
There is no argument that Montana is anything but 2 imoI'm going to give them credit and say that an argument could be made for 2 of the 25 picks (Montana-3, Unitas-5).
You have 4 of your top 7 from eras where the running game was much more important than the passing game and another where it was still at least more important.Perfect. If someone were to rank Unitas up there I wouldn’t throw a fit. I’d put the top like this:
1a. Brady (GOAT expansion era)
1b. Graham (GOAT pre-expansion era)
3. Montana
4. Starr
5. Unitas
6. Baugh
7. Staubach
Now it’s kind of a dog fight with Fivehead, Elway, Young, Marino, etc. Case could be made for Young as well. I didn’t forget Favre...he just wasn’t that great.
neither is fran tarkenton and dan fouts
Bart Starr isn't on the list but Alex Smith and Carson Palmer are?
Well to be fair his announcing career alone should keep him off any list. The value he brought by being able to watch him on the field has been undone ten fold to what he has done to my ears and brain. Just sayin...
I said the same thing to myself: Carson Palmer? Did I read that right? Maybe he makes the all-time whiners list. This is confusing. Peyton over montana and rivers over rodgers?
Edit
How is carson palmer on this list
Bart Starr isn't on the list but Alex Smith and Carson Palmer are?
Just looking at that list makes it obvious the authors were born well after your postername.
C'mon, no Sid Luckman, Otto Graham or Sammy Baugh.
Those kids should learn the meaning of "all time".
Hell, Bledsoe was better than Phil Simms.
.
I don’t buy that crap at all....nothing to do with playing
