Black Monday thread: the NFL Coaching Carousel

I think at lease Bienemy and Flores get Jobs.
As could Bowles and Leftwich.
Let’s say Flores goes to Houston
Bienemy to Miami
Leftwich to Jacksonville
I think Vikings Hire Kellen Moore
And Hackett goes to the Giants.
That would be my best guess.

One potential bad outcome here would be if the Texans hire Flores as HC and then Mayo as DC. No picks for losing a minority coach to a coordinator position.
I think you're on it. I think Flores to Houston makes sense, for a multitude of reasons. I am not so sure I'd want that job, however. Easterby would have to go.

IIRC, Culley was hired to specifically placate Watson, who had requested a trade and was peeved he wasn’t involved in the HC hiring process to begin with. The Watson accusations came out later, leading to his benching by the team all year. Now that the team feels reasonably good about Mills, it’s ready to trade Watson and his baggage. Given that, they don’t need the HC that was hired specifically to appease Watson. And I guess he didn’t make a good enough impression to keep his job.

Oh wow Culley was just fired 20 minutes ago.

McDaniels will be able to interview in 2 days if he tanks the playoff game and loses.

.
I’m just curious, which option you will choose?

1. Patriot loose on Saturday and McD leaves to open HC position somewhere and bringing Harry, Bentley and Gaudchaux with him

or

2. Patriots win SB with same game plan like whole season with running TD in last possession with Harry’s blocking down the field

I’m hearing Mayo could be a head coach there too if not Flores DC.
They are interested in interviewing him as well.

2 of course.

This is interesting.
Houston stinks. They aren’t winning in 2022. They have to target 23 or 24 realistically.
In that mode, aren’t you best off hiring the right dude, more than experience or resume? He goes through growing pains while building his winner. Coaching is more personality, commitment, drive, standards, leadership, motivation and belief in how you want it done than Xs and Os. That’s why you often see the “boy genius” guys have a bump at first because they innovate, then it falls apart because they can’t lead.
Nagy is good example, Rex Ryan, he’ll every Jet coach recently. Kingsbury is probably next. Jason Garrett, all the WCO OCs that failed as HCs, etc etc.

You would think I'd be torn but it's easy. If the Pats win the Superbowl I don't care how it happens. I get upset when they lose, period. Having said all this, option1 is funny and I would not be livid if exactly what you wrote ended up happening.

SiriusXM’s Jim Miller was saying the hottest rumors around the Texans is Jerod Mayo.

It kind of makes sense. I really don’t think McDaniels or Flores take a job where the GM hires them instead insisting they hire the GM. Even if the GM is old friend Nick Caserio.

Besides, if Caserio wanted McDaniels and McDaniels wanted Houston, why wasn’t McDaniels hired last off-season?

Interesting, but I don't believe it. Mayo isn't even close to being ready to be a HC...though he's still light years ahead of his partner in crime Little Steven.

This is Houston we’re talking about. What does “ready”have to do with anything.

I find the Culley firing just after Flores becomes available an interesting coincidence.

Here is the problem the Pats have when the don't give coaches titles, Flores could come in and make Mayo his DC, and because he doesn't have that title in NE, it would be considered a promotion, hence the Pats can't block it, or get any compensation (from Houston) for him.

Of course, if the above does happen, the Pats will most likely lose Mayo's brother from the Strength and Conditioning staff too.

I would take Boyer he did very well for Miami and us.
I think Mayo is gone unless Bill gives him the title over Stephen.
