Folks, we need to remember just how bad it was here before Parcells came aboard. 1-15 Under Rod Rust, 2-14 under **** MacPherson, 5-11 under Raymond Berry in his last year. Even the great Chuck Fairbanks had his 3-11 season. Historically, they were bad, with intermittent periods of mediocrity, with an occasional 10-6 to give us hope. Parcells made the Patriots relevant. They became a real NFL team under his watch, with all his bluster and BS. Look, the Super Bowl fiasco was a mess, and none of it would've happened, IMO, if Kraft didn't force Tuna to take Terry Glenn when he was at the top of the draft board. But the reality is, in Parcells' words, they could've had an archery match at the old building and not hit anyone in the stands. It was bad. I would go so far as to say that if Parcells wasn't here, Kraft might not have bought the team. Who the hell knows. His "I never should've left" certainly smacks of ego/jealousy, but, to quote BB, it is what it is. I will always look back in fondness when I recall the four years we had Parcells.
Having said that, Belichick is 10 times the coach. We never would've experienced 5 wins out of 8 SB's with Parcells. It was too much about him.
