Looks pretty smooth more than fast. Seen him pull a few moves in short areas. Plucks the ball away from his frame. Seen him reel in a few ones that lead to big hits he knew was coming. Possible X if he tested well enough. Haven't seen any #'s on his testing.
I watched some highlights. Looks like high school football. Dixon is huge with good hands, but he is slow and unshifty. Showboat, against high school, err, college CBs. Most of his catchese were contested which he won because of his size. The will not work in the NFL (.i.e NKeal Harry). UDFA, lucky to make it out of camp.A friend of mine who lives in Louisiana (but is a Steelers fan) is raving about Nicholls State WR Dai'Jean Dixon.
I've never heard of him, or Nicholls State, and can't find any tape worth a damn on him. Anyone here seen him?
Expand on this more pleaseThere's something funny going on with these Combine time splits (supposedly corrected official Electronic times per RAS and Draftscout). 1.41 10yd split for Tyquan Thornton. 1.44 for CAustinIII, 1.45 for CWatson and COlave, 1.46 for Velus, APierce, and SMoore . These don't seem right - insanely historically fast - everyone else in Combine history who ran a 4.31 or lower has run slower than all those times, so I'm leaning towards some funny business. Chris Johnson (RB) was the fastest at 1.4.
If the times are legit ,though, it's interesting that Slade Bolden despite the slow 40 actually had a pretty fast 10yd split (1.52 - same as JEdelman. Jakobi's is pretty decent at 1.55. As reference: Danny Gray and Marquise 4.27 Goodwin posted 1.51 and RuggsIII 1.54).
Others of note were Woolen at 1.47 and Nick Cross / ZyonMc / PButler at 1.46.
Does this all matter? Probably not too much. Kupp had 1.62/4.62. That being said, a .05 second difference for a very conservative 14mph that one would reach at 10yds is a difference of 12 inches.
Imho, either this is really a historically absurdly fast accelerating class with groundbreaking techniques in specific training and prep, or the timing is off somehow (or the data I'm looking at cross referencing from RAS and Draftscout is inaccurate), or...Expand on this more please

Side note: it was interesting how everyone was getting onto their stance for the 40. Haven't really paid attention before, but it looked like they were squishing a spring. Just watched the 60m Women's indoor Champs, and there was a gal who does something somewhat similar, so it made me think about it.
Yea pre-combine training is huge business. All these guys are training somewhere with former players, trainers etc. The 40 is interesting though. Like you can correct, adjust things on your bench and unless you get hurt it never shows up on the field. But the 40 you're using a totally different stance. Different from the one(s) you've been using since HS. Guys aren't used a crouch, coming out of it or keeping technique throughout. It's obviously working out for most but interesting considering how different it is from what we see on the field. Yea they're thoroughly trained and I have no doubt it's helping with sprints and jumps. That said they did have a new guy recording times this year.Imho, either this is really a historically absurdly fast accelerating class with groundbreaking techniques in specific training and prep, or the timing is off somehow (or the data I'm looking at cross referencing from RAS and Draftscout is inaccurate), or...

Speaking of groundbreaking technique, this short docu-style video is really incredible. This is what dedication to transforming technique and physique looks like over a very long time. Absurdly impressive!

He holds the record for fastest 60m ever at 6.29, that equates to 4.07 40 yard. OOOOOMMMMGGGG
