This may be one of the deepest receiver classes I've watched, although I admittedly haven't been able to evaluate them all as thoroughly as I'd like to in most years. Nonetheless, tons of potential in every round for almost every prototype of player. Great opportunity for NE.
Do I have thoughts hornet? Is the sun coming up tomorrow??Know he did not have the greatest Senior Bowl week, but any new opinions on OL Royce Newman from Ole Miss. Has shorter arms, and needs to gain some strength. He does have a little positional flexibility and is a pretty darn good athlete. Probably a late rounder, but he’s got a good head on his shoulders and will work hard. Coached him in HS so was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on him.
Edit: also played a lot of T during the Sr Bowl week, but I think he’s more suited for G.
Thanks for the reply. Agree with all. Played TE for us in high school and was the best athlete on the field. Just ran away from people. Of course his stride was twice as big as everyone else’s but still. Would be awesome to hear his name called.Do I have thoughts hornet? Is the sun coming up tomorrow??
I'll likely have a 5th on him but I'm hearing he's going to have a great pro day and possibly jump 36+? & put up a good 40 so who knows maybe a 4th?
Anyway as you stated he has position versatility at all 5 spots. His drops are inconsistent. At times hes a short step and over relies on two hand strikes. Needs to gain some tools there. Front heavy at times. Footwork is inconsistent as well but he's got a really quick first step. Smooth, powerful, textbook at times and everything runs off that. He can move though. North/South and laterally. Again a little front loaded if he's not careful with his steps but he's got something there. Get stronger and start at G/C. Project tackle with some upside. I like him as a mid round pick.
He'll definitely be on a team this summer and I'd say it's more than likely he gets drafted. I could see him go anywhere 4th-7th comfortably so again I'll say 60/40 he gets called. Thanks for the reply. Agree with all. Played TE for us in high school and was the best athlete on the field. Agree. Once you get past the 3rd/4th round it is a crapshoot who and when someone gets drafted. Becomes more about teams seeing a skill they like and think they can do something with. Based off of skill entirely, a team could scout a player and see a 4th or 5th rounder and another team may just throw that players evaluation in the trash. Just have to have that one team see something they can work with. He'll definitely be on a team this summer and I'd say it's more than likely he gets drafted. I’m having trouble understanding why Tamorrion Terry is being mocked so late in the draft. Most have him as a day 3 pick. The kid is big and can fly. In spite of the pure garbage he had at QB with FSU, he caught contested hospital balls and wasn’t afraid of going over the middle.
Multiple issues with his coaches. Supposedly more than a few didn't care for him. Knee issues. Route running/release, concentration drops (least of my concern) have to be cleaned up. Love his game though! Big time blocker with lots of attitude. Tough to tackle. Once he gets going he's a force to bring down. I actually like his route tree-running potential but he's a rounder with some stuff and will give away what's coming at times. Good on doubles for example but he'll give away a curl or comeback.I’m having trouble understanding why Tamorrion Terry is being mocked so late in the draft. Most have him as a day 3 pick. I’m still interested. The kid has athletic gifts that can make him a force in this league. Get him in an NFL weight program and coach him on how to beat the press.Watch his releases off the line. He struggles sometimes unless he can build up speed. I really like him, but he's not at the same level as someone like Metcalf, who was big and fast, but also had a polished release package at the LoS. Terry has some tendencies that worry me. I'd still take him as someone who could push Harry, though. I think he's closer to a Gordon than a Harry in terms of his strengths, but they'd both play X ideally (moving Harry to big slot could benefit both of them, though).
Define irony? Simms is right about the mock drafts though. If you don't know almost anyone can make one now. There are so many sites and literally anyone can make one. I wouldn't bother with most.
This guy tracks the big shots. I'm not on there but it's a great resource nonetheless. I'm not joking, it's a good baseline.
He's actually been pretty good hitting on QB's lately but yea he's an awful person trying way too hard**** Chris Simms.
Yup he's doing the same I believe or something similar. Before he started at the Athletic, Arif Hasan used to post a Consensus Big Board in April before the last few drafts; it combined the top 300 of many of the draft sites we all use and was a great resource to see the ranges the prospects were given...
