Laviska "Viska" Shenault

Name is lu-visk-uh shuh-nault
Different dude on/off the field than most WR I'd say. Father dying at a young age seemingly unleashed a discipline & drive that comes inside a growns man body. The passing definitely changed him as one would expect but again very impressive for a young man to stay the course as he has. Keeps dreadlocks for Dad. Loves sports, probably could've played bball if he was taller. Played everywhere in hs (TE/HB/WR/Slot) & pretty much is the same weapon at Colorado. Plays video games, pick up ball in spare time. Could've went anywhere (Bama, LSU, Miss St, UCLA ...)

Haven't seen a wide receiver this physical in quite some time. Just an absolute bull with the ball in his hands. Rocked up at 6'2/220, laviska is like a pickup truck once he gets moving. He delivers hits as opposed to taking them. The physicality in which he plays w is unmatched at his position & I havent seen it in quite some time. In terms of bringing him down, you need multiple bodies & hes very likely to knock the hell out of one of them. Dude will lower his shoulder n just try to bulldoze whats in front of him. Does a great job of bouncing of hits & using that force to gather momentum to keep on going. Viska most def squats. His balance/contact balance is just different. Defenders just bounce, fall & seemingly shake off him. He just bulldogs his way through defenders & Hes only 20 btw.

— Of 103 touches on offense, was tackled by one player just 24 times. It took two players to bring him down 25 times and he was gang tackled by three or more 28 times. He ran out of bounds eight times, there was no tackle seven times and he scored touchdowns on the other 11 touches

Usually hits up stutter (family) for release(s), usually 2 step at the los. Very sharp, solid plant that allows him to explode both off the line & in route after getting his mans hips turned which hes very adapt at. Very comfortable/confident moving his man on corners, blaze out, post/corner. Very fluid mover/strider, very comfortable moving his man. Showed some decent, subtle hand fighting right before the catch & at the line. Strong hands! Very reliable pass catcher, didn't drop many & was a monster in the slot. Catch rate increased big time.
Very strong hands. Catches through contact, ball doesn't move when body absorbs hits. Imagine a refined Shenault in the slot at 6'2/220?

Long way to go in terms of technique but I'm not sure hes "raw" either. Seems very efficient at this point. Forces DB to commit/turn hips & just redirects pretty crisply. Big play waiting to happen. Seemingly every game he played in, every ball he caught meant something. Game winning TD, big rec on 3rd & 4th down (at one point he was 10/11 on 3rd), quick passes/deep passes etc... Shenault made it happen no matter the situation.

Speed & quicks are legit. Legit. Give him an inch he could be gone. He's vg at making people miss even at his size. He can make you miss, run away from, through you & make a play in the air.

Shenault is something else & hes just barely scratching the surface. The physicality. The jets & quicks. The drive & want-to. The versatility. I just haven't seen a player w this many attributes, qualities & looks like a humble guy off the field.
That said Shenault has to stay healthy, absorb & execute his new offensive scheme which will undoubtedly look to get him more "pro" looks as opposed to some of the manufactured touches he got last year.

This class looks like one of the best I've seen in a long time. Jeudy is the best route runner of the last few years and an outstanding athlete, Lamb has moments where he reminds me of Hopkins, Shenault is a beast, Raegor can outrun anyone -- I could see all of them (and a few more) with a shot at the first round. Can't wait for the season to start up!

Its a great class & theres a chance 2021 is as good if not better. Long way away but 2020 is nuts.

I love a few guys from tier 2 (Coxie, Terry, Rogers, Jeff Thomas) but the names you mentioned are all legit.

People are still sleeping on Raegor. Former Long Jump champ. Does a lil bit of everything really well. Not sure hes a WR1 next level but I can't imagine him not having an impact if he keeps his head on straight?

Supposedly runs 4.2-low 4.3.

JJ is just incredible loose, light whichs leads to his ability to make you miss. Another guy I think will run 4.4 & have a crazy 3C. His strides are so long. Vg tracker. + hands. His rr is so good. I can see why some comp him to Beckham, young Tory Holt/Bruce type cat.

I'm just enamored Shenault though. Think hes a special player.

Btw .. Not a WR but go watch Reed Blankenship if you haven't. PTP S/Hybrid? Killer stats but had a 17 TKL (9 solo), 3 TFL, 100 yd INT/TD & a sack game vs OD last year. Really gonna watch him close.

Very fun player. I really like him a lot as well. Very smooth player, glides out there. Wish he was a bit for physical. Heard he runs a 4.4, at 6'4.

At least. He consistently runs away from DBs. Route running needs to improve but hell this dude is a physical freak and was dominating based on raw ability alone. Now with more experience, a better QB (especially deep ball), more weapons, very good OC and OL coach, he should elevate his game even more.

The physicality that I mentioned above & others will no doubt be talking about this fall. Whether it delivering a hit, fighting for yards, breaking a tackle. It shows up every game, seemingly every other time he has the ball in his hands.
Dude just shakes off 1 defender, runs away from 2 guys while dragging another.

Like I mentioned above seems very comfy on any out breaking routes. On the same page w QB, knows where he is/where he wants to go. Powerful strider that has a 2nd gear but also does a nice job of cruising at 50/60 before taking a speed cut/turn towards the sidelines.


Definitely have to come correct when lining him up


#5 is buying & bringing Shenault donuts & coffee in the morning for life


Look at where he is first touched & how many defenders are around him. 1st down.

Tyler Johnson ... King off the line & using leverage. Whether its a perfectly executed rocker step, diamond, stutter, shave release etc Johnson breaks out them all. Like I mentioned above he reminds me of a point guard. A smart PG that will set up his man the moment he walks into the gym. Johnson is always thinking ahead & how he can win that rep. He has a suddenness that allows him to just separate on the drop of a dime. This coupled w his rr ability, understanding the proper use of leverage gets him from A-B in a hurry & usually w some room around him to make a play. Johnson looks like a pro running slants/slant&go, drags & a others that allow him to use his deadly hip/head fakes. Not many more "NFL ready" & PTP than TJ. Might be the best fit opposite Harry.






Johnson is so polished. He wins bc he does everything at top speed or he makes you believe he does. So slick & smooth off the line. So sudden in route & has + body control. Again he reminds me of a PG in bball. Very efficient player. One of the best slant runners I've seen in a minute.

Very hungry prospect by all accounts in terms of work ethic. Knows he has to improve not only his weaknesses but strengths.

Reagor is somewhere in the top 3 - 5 for me, and I think he'd be a dynamic complement to Harry. I just can't put him above some of the other guys out there, pending the actual 2019 season, of course.

JJ film study/thoughts.

I hate comp'n prospects or some of their attributes to all time greats but JJ is that good. In fact that whole WR Corp is just silly good. Who knows, who really emerges 5 years from now.
Back to JJ .. Again I hesitate to bring up names like Holt, Brown & OBJ but some of the stuff JJ does makes you hit the repeat button 1000 X's. Will Fuller is another guy he reminds me of at times. Esp tracking the ball w those legs. It's not only what he does but how he does it.

His rr & play speed are exceptional & remind me of Holt & Brown. Both very fast guys coming out but both really could utilize their speed throughout their routes. They don't lose speed. Everything is fast but fluid, smooth. Nothing advertised. All 3 vg at choking out defenders w leverage on deep routes. Good luck covering that route 1 on 1.
JJ also has some serious vision that sticks out when he runs particular routes. When he's tasked w crossing routes his vision stands out big time. As does his ability to knife through zone coverage. Very smart at finding soft spots, recognizing weaknesses & making room for himself when there is none. Easily one of his strengths. Just the way he moves/weaves through the field. This trait along w his yac ability compare to some RB's & even OBJ himself. You ever watch him, he just owns the field cutting, shifting effortlessly. Speaking of cuts, if D Swift has the best dead leg in the country JJ is literally right behind him. Those long legs allow him instant/natural separation when he jukes defenders. After that separation good luck catching him w what looks like sub 4.5 speed. I'm thinking hes a 4.4-.4.8 guy. And again thats w serious short area quicks.

He can beat you in the slot, outside. Short, deep but his + tracking ability on deep stuff, hand/eye coordination that stands out & is just different from the next guy. True centerfielder in that regard.

Most of the time opponents are smart enough to give him a clean release but again his dead leg is insane. Very good footwork. Uses his hands & body well separating from his man. In route/off the line. Like everything else it's smooth, subtle, not exaggerating at all.

Seems like he always knows whos around him, whos coming from where to knock his block off. Usually ends up w them missing.

Has to fill out but that's going to take a min or at least should imo. I'm not putting a ton of muscle on that body. Let it happen naturally. I don't want to mess w his spaghetti-like fluidity. Get stronger, little by little & watch him tear up the league. Just a different dude out there.
