RB/PTP Thread
Looks like one of the better classes to come along lately. Ceiling could be 2017, floor 2020.
I'm curious how Robinson will test but he's got a ton of goods to offer on the field. I think he'll do well in jumps but not sure about runs. Well spoken, great attitude and looks the part with his size. Very well versed with the media. I love his footwork, agility and change of direction. Very smooth player from the line, 2nd level and open field. Good vision and always runs behind his pads. Runs with a slight lean very physical, nasty stiff arm. Very efficient setting up defenders. A lot of the time in college the biggest gaps are between the OL/DL. So initially you'll see these big holes at the line and a swarm of defenders behind them. So RB's in college have to be able to shift, set up 2nd level defenders and have some burst to run away from those smaller guys. Robinson is very good at all that. Don't think he has "long speed" but enough to be a hazard for defenses. Occasionally can make something out of nothing. He's got a little rec ability but doesn't have natural hands.
Jack Colletto is listed as a LB but is a very good short yardage back. Has taken direct snaps as wildcat. Tough kid that loves football. Low ceiling but versatile and will run through a wall for you. Late round - udfa but coaches love him on both sides.
Keaton Mitchell is an angle killing, burst machine with instant acceleration. Explosive kid that looks to have 4.3 speed with his burst and power. Once he digs in he's gone. Averaged over 11 per rec last year. Think he has some upside in the rec game for sure. Over 1300 total yards, 10 total TD's. Can break an arm tackle and make a defender miss with his stutter n shake. He can play and is a fun watch.
Zach Evans might be the best value depending on where he goes next April. Big time Texas RB that was a star in hs. Running for almost 5k. There are some off the field concerns here. A few teams walked away from him. There's stuff in the news but that's actually not what I'm concerned about. Some academic stuff but supposedly his GPA is up around 4. Nothing but good things from TCU coaches. I don't say anything unless I believe it and am told by someone I trust. So I won't but he'll be someone I'm watching closely for sure.
He's Dalvin Cook lite. Peripheral vision is on point and in concert with his feet. He can stop, cut back, spin, slide away from shots coming east - west. Really press the line before scrapping down and finding space near the sideline. Very much in control. Sometimes a little too patient but he's very confident and sure of his abilities. Plus lateral movements. He's got some nice tools. Pass pro is a weak spot but he's got some potential to be pretty good if it's comes together.
I didn't even get to Vaughn, Bigsby or Mohamed Ibrahim. Not to mention Gibbs who's going to absolutely tear it up with Bama. It's not easy to get Saban excited but he loves Gibbs. Recruited him hard. Very happy he's there. He could be a 1st RD pick.
