Mariota got 7m to sit. Winston is dirt cheap.I can't imagine him getting more than Jameis. Jameis threw for a lot of yards (and pick 6s) which was still better than being benched mid season for the worst team in football.
I could see the Pats signing Cam and Dalton then proceeding to send an email to the agents of Stiddy Hoyer Ginger Cam and the two UDFA's saying "Welcome to the Thunderdome b*tch!"
On second thought that would sound better with a cameo from Rick Sanchez.
Since when ever did any team worry about Brady picking up first downs by running? Defenses never changed up schemes because they were worried about that.To be fair, at that point there were signs that might be true.
In fact, the KC debacle put an example of that on full display. By that point, defenses could play knowing that once Brady was passing, there was basically no chance of him running. They left him room to pick up first downs with his feet, and he wouldn't.
LMAO. Exactly what I thought when reading it.Chatham is just getting himself warmed up to praise the move on Twitter... right before he pens a letter to BB to ask him for a vacuum-sealed bag of his farts to inhale.

d.) Cam Newton - We would only bring him in to start, IMO. And he would cost at least 18M a year, IMO.
I mean, if I'm signing a quarterback with the anticipation they'll start next year, give me Cam over Dalton every single time. If I'm not, I don't see what Dalton gives you over Hoyer, both are pocket passing quarterbacks who add no extra dimensions to an offense and are perfectly capable of being below-average starters that any team will be trying to replace. I think Dalton and Hoyer could both carry the team, give Belichick and the defense, to a divisional title or wild card spot, but I think they'll have very little chance against better teams, which has basically been the Dalton/Hoyer experience over their careers.
What are those other choices that would give Dalton the chance to compete for a starting job?I think that this is the reality. Dalton doesn't need a minimal contract from the patriots to backup Belichick's future starters. Dalton should have other choices. The OPEN question is whether Belichick wants him, Cam, or whether he wants to consider to consider Stidham his starter with no real backup or competition.
