Living about 20 miles from Tampa, I recall when this hit the news locally. I certainly have no proof, but it seemed to me at the time that the police (City of Tampa or Hillsborough County, not sure which one) just sort of shrugged their shoulders to the murder. 'Might have been an attempted robbery, who knows' kind of attitude. When his name came up, the news would be sure to point out his stupid money hustles that got him in trouble (running a gambling parlor, his arrest for going to cash in on the popularity of ecstasy by dealing that drug, his upcoming sentencing on a health care fraud case). The message was clear: he was not someone you should feel bad about.

Again, I'm speculating here, but it sure seemed as though the cops were not interested in putting forth any effort in the case due to Caldwell's previous arrests; it was just another criminal-on-criminal crime, and they couldn't be bothered. If it had been a squeaky clean famous person without those arrests, I'm sure the investigation would have been much more intense.

If I knew that he had been murdered, shamefully, it flitted in and out of my social media rotted mind. I hope they solve this - and I personally love a guy who played his best for us, even with a lower ceiling than some of the superstars. He played reliably at a higher level than you would think he was capable of in a time when we were without marquee names at WR - all heart. RIP

I would absolutely want to know more about those cameras.

And, NEAR BASELESS SPECULATION, I'd want to know more about the girlfriend. Heading inside AND the cameras going out once she did...coincidences happen, but that seems like an extreme coincidence.

If you believe that the security cameras just had a glitch that prevented them from recording the murder, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Someone in his inner circle did this, I would point to the GF who suspiciously had to go back inside just before the murder. The "Street Code" is the reason the cops don't bother with investigating. Why bang your head against a brick wall.
