I don't care if he's the pope, saying Polk was "wide open" was completely wrong.
Not only was the LB bearing down on Jacoby, but if you watch Leonard Williams (#99) he makes a vet move and drops back into coverage when he realizes he's nowhere near the QB in pass rush. He gets between our QB and Polk early in the route. The only time Polk was open was at the very end of the play, at which point the LB had his hands on Jacoby... there was no play to be made other than the early check down to Henry.
Lingers too long on play action. so you'd prefer a poor fake? This ^ reads like a lot of pseudo expertise without a lot of substance.
Were there plays to be made throughout the game that Brissett probably missed, sure... we used to watch Brady tape and find the same thing. It happens every week. Would Maye and his cannon arm probably made more downfield throws, no doubt... he also probably would have turned it over and got sacked a couple more times. I don't want Maye going now against the Jets and 49ers, so it's best they wait.
Bottom line, Polk was not wide open... and most media members who nitpick and post erroneous tweets like the one above are morons who have no concept about the view at field level, or from the QB's eyes. Just because you can see it from the sky cam doesn't make the player "open." If Polk breaks open and Jacoby is being tackled he was never open. Our line stinks at pass blocking, consider that first and foremost.
