I've read quite a bit of debate on this between fans. Haven't really personally noticed tbh, not re-watching the tape or looking at all 22. Is Brissett just not seeing guys? I know OL has been a big factor.

it's probably a 3 way issue between the pass blocking, qb and wr. I saw clips where WR where open but Brissett did not see them or had no time. I am sure there were sequences with good pass blocking but WR not open

I would say that it is mostly Brissett not seeing them. But that’s what you get when you start a career backup that is slow to process and take a lot of sack

WR’s are getting frustrated at not seeing any balls thrown their way. I know a lot of them complain on all the teams as they want everything thrown at them, however on our team they have every right to complain as Jacoby doesn’t even look at them once. IMO, it’s him that is the issue, I saw them open quite often yesterday.

There is literally no way to evaluate this properly. When the quarterback has less than 2 seconds on every drop back, not even Randy Moss can get open. Pop Douglas has 3 targets in 2 games, and he runs slot routes, quick-breaking routes, and he can't even get the ball, because there's no time to throw. If you're not a running back sprinting to the sideline, or a tight end with your eyes in the backfield, waiting to adjust when the quarterback inevitably breaks the pocket, it's impossible to get the ball 9 times out of 10.

I'm curious to see if any WR has gotten a catch on anything but a play where the quarterback has broken the pocket. I'm not sure there has been.

I am not sure of this. I'd need to see a single example.

brisset is holding for more than 3 seconds and no all QBs are not throwing to the most open receiver. they are throwing to spots where only their receiver can catch. brissett made one throw like that to osborne.

brissett is so risk averse that he is not even throwing any balls. he is a big reason why we lost yesterday. i think zappe might have won us the game yesterday.

if brisset cannot even throw just play all jumbo tight ends and linemen in 11 and keep pounding it on. why do we need the wide receivers.

no wonder the wide recievers are mighty pissed. mayo needs to quickly calm the situation else i see a mutiny in the team.

Hunter Henry was targeted 12 times and caught 8 balls. There is no way Henry is quicker into his cuts and is able to get separation quicker than Pop. Frankly this speaks more on Brissett looking for Henry more so than looking at the defense and seeing who else is open.

It's easy for us to see on film a guy getting open then seeing the rush on the field. By the time the WR clears their area, Brissett is looking to not get sacked. There's no trust in the OL.

imo, it is easier to watch WR/DB play in person than on TV
I was at the game. there were numerous plays that WR's were open, but the ball went to the TE(Henry) or RB (Stevenson)
I do not believe it is all attributed to line play. Brissett has plenty of time on 50+ % of his drop backs.
he is locking in on targets pre snaps from what I can see, and not making progressions to anyone otherwise.
Pop, TT and Polk all were open a number of times combined, and never saw the ball.
that's not an OL issue. that's not an AVP issue. that's a Brissett issue.
that said, he is who he is. they are not going to change him, nor even try. Maye is a few weeks away.

Start Maye
nice picture, thanks.

But no thanks on the Maye idea. For entertainment value, I'd rather see Maye play now, too. But as far as TRUE QB development, he needs more practice reps to turn all the work he done to alleviate his footwork flaws and turn them into muscle memory. He probably needs to master the offense better and get comfortable in reading NFL defenses. He has 2-3 years less experience than his QB draftmates who are starting, and NONE of them have put up any production worth noting despite the fact that they all are in better offensive skill groups than Drake has here.

For me I'm comfortable waiting until late October, early November for him to make his first start

Me as well.

I've said this. He's not making cuts. He gets off the line, and is looking in the backfield, running with Jacoby Brissett. Every one of his receptions were on broken or semi-broken pockets, when this happened. This veteran move won't be able to work all season long, but it's the only reason they had any passing yards at all yesterday.

didn't Ross or someone else post something from a reporter where they said that Brissett held the Ball for like 4 seconds on one play

Is it brisset being cautious or is it avp/play calling, a combo if both?

We're only having this conversation because media morons are watching replays and have no clue what they're looking at.

This ^ is one of the worst takes here today. Polk was wide open?

Watch the play again, instead of watching Polk alone, instead of watching the CB trailing him... look at the DE lurking underneath. Polk comes open on the sideline eventually, but it was an extremely high difficulty throw and the DE was sitting on it the entire play.

brisset is holding for more than 3 seconds
Nope. This is just wrong. If he has the ball more than 3 seconds, he's broken the pocket because of pressure. Expecting consistent, accurate throws under constant duress is a ridiculous standard. Drake Maye isn't doing that.
