After reading this thread all the way through, it's pretty clear that Captain Stone owes Andy Johnson some money and is hoping to squirm out of paying up. The "mea maxima culpa" in the opening post tipped me off. It's hard to trust a post that reverts to Latin to beg for mercy.

That's because I sometimes revert to my days at Boston Latin whenever I have to 'splain my way out of a mess I helped create.
