Good call on Warner. I'd forgotten that his first year was 1998 (UDFA status meant I had no reminder when I went and looked at drafted QBs). He'd be on the list somewhere, no question.

I think we've all got some room to maneuver with a lot of these guys, so I'm not hating your list, though I really do think Peyton is the clear #2.

Fair enough, maybe I'm just so conditioned on the Brady vs Pink Head debate from last decade that I carry those talking points over when I put him up vs Rodgers! I'd be interested to hear perspectives from other fanbases too (Packers / Colts / neutral).

ETA: one interesting aspect of the discussion is that Rodgers's lack of comebacks is likely due to his risk aversion -- you have to make a lot of risky throws that could potentially be picked off to really come back all the way (see Brady the last couple drives against the Falcons).

When Peyton lost hilariously in the playoffs, it was usually because he threw a back-breaking interception to seal it. But at least he was throwing them, demonstrating his willingness to take that risk. And as has been noted, he was able to stage plenty of comebacks in the regular season and even a few in the playoffs (don't want to go into detail on one of those...). Clear difference between him and Rodgers on that front.

Just to belabor the point, here is a quote from Brady from the NESN article linked to on the sidebar at the moment:

Brady knows that Aaron Rodgers Syndrome is a problem, and while understandable, he has to make a conscious effort to overcome it.

“Your QB hasn’t won a game in 6 weeks but has a nice stat line and hasn’t thrown any pics, he may be suffering from a mild case of ARS”

Aaron Rodgers currently has a 20-1 TD-int ratio. This would shatter the current record, held by Brady, where he went 28-2.

The difference is Brady was 11-1, while Rodgers is 4-6-1 .

more like the .64 cent question. Only a godyamned NITWIT would entertain such a ludicrous idea.

Not sure why so many are so unwilling to put Manning alone at #2. His rivalry with Brady - in which he was largely successful later in his career - not only elevates him, but ignoring it also cheapens Brady’s success. Manning’s 2nd SB is trash, but he is unquestionably the #2 to TB in their “era”. It’s GOAT, #2, and the rest of them.

Brees/Rodgers/Rapist in the next set - all three of whom have the opportunity to elevate themselves above the others by what they do with what’s left of their careers.

    Not me.

Anyone who looks at those DEN rosters on offense under Reeves will appreciate how much Elway carried those teams.

Once Shanny surrounded him with offensive talent his numbers became comparable with league leaders.

Elway is a Top 5 GOAT QB

It continues to blow my mind how there are still people out there who think a QB is better just because he has a stronger arm, is faster running and has gaudy stats.
