High is the best option for the Pats out there. He was from the beginning.
No doubt about that.

But “significantly worse“ is a strong language re Belichick led team.
While I wish and believe High will be back . and it would be sad to see Pat icon gone . Id be interested to see how BB&MP go about LB unit without him. I am pretty confident they can do a good job making loss of Hightower much less “significant“ than you propose.

Thinking of the team and not direct replacement (because its not how it works IMHO) .. Z.Brown could be very useful here - with or without Hightower. Lateral range and speed of LBs was one of the things that put Pats in very difficult position in SBLI (and some other games like last year both times vs DEN).

What about a guy like DeAndre Levy?

This saying the Jets being interested by his agent has somewhat pissed me off. If its a tactic to raise the money against a ghost team then I say **** of to the Browns. Your Agent just screwed you over Donta. We let you test the market in good faith.

Ridiculous question, but ok I'm bored.

5 quality starters? Of course.

5 pro bowlers? No. As of now the only potential pro bowlers are the three DEs. Of which one is probably gone soon.
Where are the 5 quality NFL starters. Better than an average starter at their position.
I'm being serious. You may be able to name 5 but it would be close.

I'm sure BB had no illusions that Pat Dye Jr would try to create a market for his client.

Just like High and Dye should be aware that the Pats will decide they need to move onto plan B and any market High has collapses

Hey, hey, hey....

It's just agents being agents. Don't begrudge him that. Hightower's been superb for us, he's played out his rookie deal and he deserves to get paid. It's not his fault that the rest of the NFL undervalues his play, and that some teams aren't getting involved because they believe he'll go back to New England no matter what.

Cue the salty patriot fans who can't accept Hightower picking the Jets.
Well it would be the ultimate loser move to go there with no chance to win for a couple of years at least. After that who knows but the jest have no chance for a while. None.

Given their current assets in personnel, coaching, and draft picks, the Jets might be #32 out of 32 teams, in terms of their 5 year outlook. They have absolutely nothing, and when they do get assets, the have a way of quickly changing them into liabilities.

How about manti teo as a replacement?

Agreed but I didn't want to overstate it. I can reasonably say they have no chance for a year or two; beyond that we can't say for sure. They may stumble on the next Brady, you never know

Meh, hightower has two rings. I don't think cashing in while he can and making the most money for him and his family is "a loser move".

Sure it is because he's signing up to lose. He would know it. Maybe after winning almost every game he's played in (between Bama and NE) he's had enough of it. That's cool. I didn't say he'd be a loser just that it would be a loser move. And it would.

The Jets getting Hightower is stupid. They need to get young. Hightower is an expensive free agent in the prime years of his career and the Jets are in total rebuild mode. By the time they get good again (if they get good again), Hightower will be getting to the end of his prime.

It's all about the money. It's always been about the money.

For really pretty much anyone not named tom brady.

Not everyone. Some of the old timers took less like Bruschi and Brown. But I get it, those with Rings look for the money. Those without Rings sometimes come here looking for the Rings. It works both ways.

I doubt the pats are lowballing hightower when it comes to the contract. If he leaves for 8 million dollars more on the guaranteed money then see ya!!!! Enjoy the beatdowns. He surely has been dragging this process.

They're doing this to weaken the pats at linebacker and nothing more. Miserable franchise that knows it's going nowhere the next couple of seasons. I hope hightower enjoys his money and the rebuilding process.
