well, at least we beat the good teams (including Houston), which ultimately earned us the bye

I have to think most of that stat involves the Jags and Lions.

Titans really stayed their same up and down selves the rest of the way, and Pittsburgh split their last two.

The Chiefs, otoh, seem to have the opposite issue: they struggle most against good teams. Playoff-time, I prefer our problem to the theirs.

Pats played horrific against the Titans and Lions, poorly in hindsight against the Jags (though at the time it appeared the Jags were a top 5 team). Thought they played decent against the Steelers (losing on last play of game on road) and actually played pretty well against the Dolphins except for 3 or 4 bonehead plays. They dominated most of that game and should have come out with a 10 point win.

In road games they won - played well against the Bear (extremely well in hindsight) and solid against both the Bills and Jets. Gives me some confidence that they could put together a solid road effort if it comes to that,

The defense was a disaster in Miami and the offense struggled badly in the 2nd half. The offense was great for a quarter and a half. Outside of that and the great ST plays (blocked punts), the entire team and coaching staff stunk as bad as I’ve seen in the past 10 years.

Not sure how anyone could look at that game and say they dominated anything. Gore ran for 92 yards at 7.6 YPC, Tannehill had an almost perfect passer rating. The Pats did get some key 3rd down sacks but still gave up 412 yards on only 43 snaps. By any realistic measure, that was a putrid defensive effort. The offense was equally bad in the 2nd half.

Just an awful all around game with an awful ending.

You prefer the team that loses to awful teams rather than the team that narrowly loses to playoff contenders?

The Chiefs losses were by a total combined 14 points to good or great teams. The Pats lost to Detroit alone by a wider margin (Tennessee as well)

This year, it's all pretty much coincidence. Jacksonville's problems are obviously not related to the Patriots. Detroit's offense **** the bed, with the QB having a significant drop in play over the course of the season. The Dolphins are the Dolphins and that win was in Miami, the Steelers were a mess from the start of the season (Bell sitting out entire year) and had lost 3 straight prior to playing NE, and the Titans QB has an issue that impacted his game to the point where further play might have led to permanent nerve damage.

Unlike previous years, where there has often been a connection (physical game, injuries, player/mystique broken, etc...), this was just random.
