I don't know why people still compare Rodgers to Brady.

The more interesting discussion would be Rodgers vs. Manning.

I think Brady to Manning is a great comparison. It isn't about the accomplishments so much as their styles of play. They were a lot more similar than they were different. That's why it was such a great rivalry because both of them absolutely owned the pocket and could manipulate defenses so well. Outside of their accomplishments and accolades, I don't see Rodgers and Manning as similar.

I think it's simpler than that. It was a debate about how to define greatness. Stats vs Wins. That's why it was passionate on both sides.

Manning is miles above Rodgers...

If there is are any QBs in this league that will be in the top 5-10 when all is said and done in this league right now other than Brady it's Mahomes (top 5) and Wilson (top 10).

It was time for Brady. eventually, when there's 2 sides which work and work and work for years to align interests because if interests align both succeed... eventually the 2 sides don't agree. Details don't matter that much. How much could Brady "take" of being undervalued vs. the best of the league? How much/how long could BB's philosophy succeed without "concessions" at the top of the payroll, particularly since, going by age, he has had a strong argument for years that regardless of production, brady's right at the edge of sucking. (Never mind that he won 2-3 SBs that he should have been watching on TV by those standards.)

Eventually, it was Montana-On-The-Chiefs time. Sigh.

At least we got 6 rings out of 20 years. Niners not so much.

Problem with that analogy is that the 49ers had a good backup waiting in the wings.

It's Brady's fault. He ruined bar disputes. No longer is it hip to have an intelligent conversation about who the GOAT is? it's clearly Brady BUT.....

People don't want the bar conversation ruined. It's not cool, however, to say "Who is the second greatest of all time?" so instead they still go with "WHo is the greatest" but we all have to know they truly mean "second greatest"

and it changes constantly to fit a conversational narrative.

Remember when Brees was breaking career records last year? Yeah, that made him THE GREATEST

Rodgers starts 4-0, oh wait, he's the GREATEST

Mahomes will sure enough be talked about as the GREATEST again

Pure math alone says everyone can NOT be the GREATEST

The problem is the mediots who cannot see more than 2 feet behind them. Those morons suffer recency bias on steroids. No one is talking about Rodgers as the GOAT this week, are they? It is why college polls are such a joke. So much of college polling is heavily weighted towards their most recent games, which is just not logical.

Problem with that analogy is that the 49ers had a good backup waiting in the wings.

Joe Montana, 49ers (starter), 1979-1990, 11 years, 4 SB rings (in 91-92, Steve Young started, according to the interweb)
Steve Young, 49ers (starter), 1991-1999, 9 years, 1 SB ring

Total: 20 years, 5 SB rings

Tom Brady, NE (starter), 2001-2019 (Bledsoe started in 2000). 19 seasons. 6 SB rings. Oh yeah, and total 11 conference championships (or as Montana fans call it when our guy wins the championship and theirs woulda lost it or lost earlier, "5 super bowl losses.")

Tom Effing Brady played as many AFC championship seasons w NE as Montana played seasons as a starter w SFO.

Conclusion: We had a good backup waiting in the wings by Montana/Young standards. It was Tom Brady some more.

That makes no sense whatsoever when you consider the post you made to which I responded.

You wrote (direct quote): “It was time for Brady. eventually, when there's 2 sides which work and work and work for years to align interests because if interests align both succeed...

Eventually, it was Montana-On-The-Chiefs time. Sigh.”

Now you’re running away from your own statement pretending you were talking about Brady circa 2012 or so. Weaksauce.

It's an interesting little world you live in.

Montana-on-the-Chiefs time refers to leaving the team with which one is strongly identified. Montana is indeed the Brady analogue, and the Chiefs are indeed the analogue for the Bucs.

Your reply was that the difference was that there's nobody waiting in the wings.

I put to rest that whiny retort with a demonstration that Brady had already out-performed Montana and Young, combined, prior to leaving New England.

The apparent difference is not a difference. The similarity, however, stands, unless you believe that Tom Brady is still secretly the QB of the New England Patriots. Spoiler. He's not.

It's also why Brady gets compared to Jordan. Although I loathe comparison between sports there just isn't anyone left in football to compare to Brady to so you have to go outside the sport.

The world I live in is one of logic and things that make sense..

Yes, I get it that Brady has outperformed Montana and Young combined. In fact, he has outperformed every single NFL franchise in the Super Bowl era (except the Patriots themselves) so that point really isn’t in question.

But you spoke about the moment Montana left the 49ers for the Chiefs as being analogous to Brady leaving the Pats for the Bucs. The analogy suffers due to the fact that the 49ers actually had a very talented backup waiting in the wings. The fact that Brady outperformed Montana/Young is irrelevant to that point.

Kinda pathetic that I have to explain high school logic to you, but it is what it is. Please do the forum a favor and pay more attention to taking your prescribed medications on time.
