Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I think it's going to be a 2nd and maybe a player; hopefully Pop Douglas gets thrown in.
But you need to own it now if it's not the 2nd and a player. If Schefter is right, and it will cost a 2028 1st round pick, is that a good deal for New England?

Playoff Drake Maye clearly had an injured throwing shoulder due to the poor OL play through the season, which was even poorer in the SB.

On another note, making the SB last year has a downside. It has people thinking the Pats are further along on their development than they actually are.

The Pats are still building and need to keep, and hit, on their draft picks. They are not one expensive, both in salary and compensation, player away and should not be conducting business as if they are.
For me, the situation is uncomplicated.

We are competing with BUF to be a playoff team THIS year. Brown would increase our chances.

Once we are in the playoffs, anything can happen, especially if we start as division winners with a home game.

As an aside, a 2028 first is a no-brainer for me. We get to have a #1 receiver and don't give up a top pick in a very good 2027 draft.

We ARE a playoff contender this year with Brown as our #1 WR. We are certainly contenders to go deep into the playoffs with yet another good draft which includes all our top picks.

Like I said before I think that's a shrewd move by the Eagles. That said I'm a little less inclined to Trade picks in the 27 Draft. Obviously they probably said we would like a First in 27. Vrabel and co probably said hell no! then the Eagles came back and said alright; we'll take a First in 28. To your Question?? I feel the 2028 is going to be a very weak Draft so; I think not having a First that year won't make or break us.

Perhaps we should have a poll.

1) Is there an agreement in principle between PHI and NE that will be signed in early June? and should we expect that trade to be executed?

2) Is there an agreement in principle that we think NE should be free to renegotiate?

3) is there not an agreement in principle, just a general understanding that PHI and NE will negotiate after June 1?

I gave it my best shot....

But it's still a 1st round pick. I'm absolutely certain when Atlanta traded their 2026 1st to move back into the 1st round last year for James Pearce Jr., they expected that 2026 pick to be lower than 13th overall.

Especially with his off the field problems, can you say with conviction they're better off going forward with Pearce Jr. instead of having just drafted Reuben Bain?

I get want you you're saying but our WR's Problems go way back no pun. IF BB didn't screw the pooch with his abysmal Drafting yearly we wouldn't be offering a First Rounder for A.J. Brown. From what we have seen unless they're disgruntled: WR barely leave their original Teams for greener pastures in FA. This shows that unlike that Guy Vrabel doesn't take the WR position lightly: he's putting Maye in the best position to win.

And if Belichick had done better drafting in the later years and we had AJ Brown currently, we almost certainly don't have Drake Maye or Mike Vrabel. Would we really be better off?
