It's easy, and only takes a few moments. The flip side is the better of a player you are the more likely you are to earn a big contract. Let's be real honest here, guys like Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Darrell Revis for all knew they weren't in the best situation to win championships. Every single one of them could have taken a moderate paycut to go to the Packers or the Patriots or the Seahawks or all the usual suspects. They didn't. Revis went from winning the Super Bowl with the Pats to going to get paid by the Jets. You think he gave a single thought to all the "lol your never winning a title again"? No he knew. He didn't care. A championship isn't as tangible as money. There's nothing wrong with wanting to get paid as much as possible. But when winning a championship becomes a non-priority personally, the drive to compete starts to ebb as well. Then other "priorities" start to manifest -- like "having fun" vs. pushing oneself to be the best, becoming overly cautious about risking injury, slacking off on film study, seeing a demanding coach as "disrespectful," etc., etc. Before you know it you have a slapdick league full of slapdick players followed by slapdick fans who value fantasy league stats over whether a team wins and it all goes to crap. The quality of play in the NFL already is suffering under the millennial scourge.

I think in pro sport a mediocre player has more food to put on the table than a great worker in successful company.I actually commented on this when I first joined the board. The biggest myth in pro sports is that athletes want to "win a championship". The reality is that they want to get paid! It's actually quite bizarre fans really think athletes primary goal is to win "Championships" over money. Fans seem to forget they do this for a living and and Championships don't pay the bills for most players. Guys that get paid like Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, LeBron James and other franchise type players can concentrate on obsessing over this because they don't have to worry about money like practice squad players or journeyman type players. You also have to take into account players are programmed to say this so they appear more marketable to the media, advertisers and most importantly.... fans. Could you imagine if a player said "I only signed with (insert team here) because they offered me the most money and I don't really care about winning a Championship"? LOL. This is the honest truth about pro athletes.
In Little League, you want to win a Championship. In High School and College, you want to win a Championship. In pro sports, you want to put food on the table and have a roof over your head.
Look at it this way, do you go to work everyday hoping your company wins an award for best company? Of course not. LOL. You're there to get paid!
Yes. Maybe they should all get a participation trophy BEFORE they participate so they can feel good first, THEN focus on having fun. Screw wasting time on hard work and accomplishment under the guidance of a gruff, no-nonsense taskmaster! Today's youth know best!you’re delusional if you think the gruff, hard working no nonsense approach is going to appeal to today’s youth.
No worries, it was inevitable. As a millennial there’s something that rubs me the wrong way about a group of people who inherited one of the most prosperous eras in American history and oversaw it get bogged down with needless wars and tanked the economy several times telling us we are the problem because we don’t have the same priorities in our life. Check your own house first
Oh freaking please. The last generation has been railing against the sins and follies of the next generation since prehistoric times. There's nothing wrong with wanting to get paid as much as possible. Don’t worry I’m sure you guys will have one last hurrah to wreck the economy and further destabilize the third world before we take over. Maybe if you try real hard we can get another Great Depression and global war
Yeah, well, just wait 'til none of us are around to show you how to do things. Man does not live by smartphone, video game apps, Taco Bell and light beer alone.Don’t worry I’m sure you guys will have one last hurrah to wreck the economy and further destabilize the third world before we take over. Why not? Replace the smartphones and apps with transistor radios and MAD Magazine, and your generation did almost exactly that. There's a reason that the older generation was called beatnik, and it was because of those sinful boom boxes that they took everywhere, never had time to listen to their elders, always had their headphones on, no respect, et cetera et cetera ad infinutim, ad nauseam, and so forth.Yeah, well, just wait 'til none of us are around to show you how to do things. At least we didn't ruin the NFL. You and your stupid fantasy leagues and your Madden and ADD oblivious mindset unless points are being scored every three minutes. Here's a quiz for you: name another position other than quarterback or wide receiver. Give up? Quarterbacks now routinely complete nearly 70 percent of their passes and defense is all but outlawed because of the freaking millennial scourge. Have you ever attended a game without looking at your smartphone or drinking light beer? I rest my case. Why not? Starting to sound familiar?
You guys were sick of it then, you made a lot of noise about how sick you were of it then (literally, there's no shortage of damn good classic rock pieces about jut how sick you were of this very subject) but when the time came to carry the torch yourselves? You hold it high and proud.
There is nothing new under the sun.

While I do agree that it's ridiculous that any QB can look like a Pro Bowler these days, I think Peyton Manning, Bill Polian and the Colts were more responsible for the rule changes than "Millennials". Remember they complained to the league office about enforcement of the "illegal contact" rule? However, I do agree that a lot more "fair weather" fans watch these days just so they can monitor their fantasy football teams which really waters down the product. I also think the NFL was a lot better during the time I was growing up which was the 90's. The overall product just sucks now.At least we didn't ruin the NFL. For further "enlightenment," try focusing your attention long enough to read an article. Here:
Feature - GIS and the NFL: Sustainability and Millennial Fans
"Millennials, the largest generation on our planet don’t engage well with the NFL, and unless the league does something to change it, they’ll lose a significant amount of their fanbase."
There you have it, the league has lowered itself to chasing after you and your limp-wristed hyperactive pals with the shared attention span of a caffeinated gnat. God help us.
You’re welcome.Jesus! This thread got stupid.
