I think he was much below his lofty regular season numbers... but he was not "bad". Probably average to below average. Whatever, they won. He's got more opportunity to pick up the team. Last night, they picked him up.
Greencow says he had 3 turnovers. He had 2. But ha accounted for almost 350 yards of offense against a good defense.

He moved the offense down the field multiple times.

They drove from their 1 yard line all the day to San Diego's 10.

For the playoffs, this qualifies as an above average game.

Pats can still win if their star QB isn't at his best. Other teams, not so much (cough-yours-cough)

Agreed!

If Allen doesn’t ball-out, the Bills are toast.

Thankfully, Allen typically goes nuclear in the playoffs.

My fault - I didn’t realize that his 3rd potential turnover (and 2 fumble) of the night was recovered by his own linemen.

He had 1 INT, 2 fumbles, and a 58% completion percentage. Yeah… that’s great…

It wasn't on the next play, it wasn't even on the same drive. On the drive he missed Hooper, we kicked a FG. It was still a one possesion game, 9-3.

I honestly don't get why people are getting defensive about calling Drake's game mediocre. He had a pick inside the 10, that would have resulted in 7 if not for a great goal line stand. He fumbled at the Chargers 18-yard line costing the team at least three points. After that he missed a wide open Hooper, which were another four points off the board. And even with the game seemingly secured, he fumbled at midfield with 06:30 to play, and thankfully Wilson fell on it. The Pats had 9 points through 50 minutes.

If the defense has a stinker, those mistakes would've resulted in a loss. It doesn't mean Drake isn't great, or that he isn't the biggest reason we are where we are or that he can't be better. On the contrary, he can be MUCH better, and in spite of all that, we won. That's something to cherish, it's great that we're not dependent on the QB to bail us time and again. He bailed the defense on several occasions in the regular season, and last night they bailed him. There's nothing wrong about well-intended critique. Drake was the first to admit he didn't play his best. That's why he's improved so much.
It's because you're focusing only on the bad things and not on all the things he did really well.

1. Throw to Henry for TD was a great throw not many QBs can make
2. In addition to his passing yards he ran for 50+ and almost accounted for 350 yards of offense against a very good defense
3. They actually throttled down in the 4th quarter after grabbing a 2 score lead
4. He drove the team from their own 1 to SD's 10
5. He constantly moved the team downfield and avoided a lot of 3 and outs with clutch play
6. Made elite throws to Boutte and Henry
7. MOST IMPRESSIVE: on 2nd down against his own end zone, he read the defense's blitz, stood in there and got the ball out quick to Rham. That was a warning to Harbaugh that he could read Ds and he wasn't going to wilt.

No one said it was great, but you excel at always twisting whatever people say. You've done this repeatedly on this site and have always been called out for it. You're an exaggerator.

No I just genuinely didn’t realize that his 3rd potential turnover of the night was recovered by his own linemen.

Not sure how that matters, since he still fumbled the ball … twice … but yeah.

PFP,

Question for you what's the climate like in the city of brotherly love.. is sirranni likely out?..
No, he's safe and that's what winning a Super Bowl will do for a few years but his OC ( his good friend) needs to be canned immediately) and A JBrown is shooting his way out of town with the drops and the Bit*hing all season about the offense ( he was right). I'm not sure how a WR room w him and Diggs would work w both wanting Alpha dog status...

He is getting beat the **** up though. Those start piling up and the effects will be seen soon enough.

Anyone want proof that PFF is a bunch of garbage. Here you go.

6 sacks is extremely impressive especially when the chargers tackles were allotted an early start almost all night. Insane that their only false start was called on the guard

Rhamondre needs more touches imo. Right now he’s probably our best weapon
They called TWO false starts. One on Salyer and one on Beckton. That being said, Salyer was moving early all night and should have been flagged like 15 times

The Patriots defense was frankly impressive. Stifling is the word that best describes what they were last night.

That’s why the Patriots are in the divisional round. Maye was bad.

I don't understand why this is being said lol. A QB, in his first playoff outing, coming off a 4-13 season, has inaccuracy and some turnovers, but continued to march his team down the field for kicks and the sole TD, regaining accurate poise and standing tall to keep his offense winning against a good Charger's defense... That's a good-ass game haha. Was it a sexy offensive win? No. Could there be improvements, yah. But Maye had a job last night and he did it, resulting in a win. It's like saying Brady has a bad game against the Rams in the Patriots last SB-win lol.

I wonder what Jerod Mayo thinks of all this. Mayo takes a 4-13 team and wins 4* games in 2024. Vrabel takes that 4 win team, revamps the coaching staff, attracts FA's, drafts better and turns it into 14 win team and a trip to the Divisional Round.

The defense sure did pick a great time to have their best game of the year. I honestly didn't think they had it in them to keep a team like the chargers to only 3 points. If they play even 75% as well as that the rest of the way, we are not losing.
