I have no hate for Maye. I’ve been telling Bills fans for 2 years to watch out because he’s gonna be a stud.

But he was bad last night.

He had 3 turnovers!!! He completed 58% of his passes! His offense scored 16 points. He was bad.

If you were being honest, you would admit it too. But I get it - homers are never gonna admit the negatives of their player.

Doesn’t mean he is a bad player or will be bad next week. Doesn’t even mean that he didn’t make some good plays in the game. But he was overall bad yesterday.
I'd say that Maye was below average last night and not all the way to bad.

He was bad in the first half, 2nd half he had a 140 QB rating.

Also it needs nuance first time playoff quarterbacks have a horrible track record, it's normally a multiple turnover game with a loss so Maye didn't play good by this years standards but a win and an 86 QB rating for a playoff debut is well above the average that you get from that position in a playoff debut.
The whole offense was underwhelming in the first half, Maye isn’t absolved from that.
He was very good in the 2nd half, 11/14 for 173 yds and a TD if I remember correctly,
The strip sack was bad tho. The defender hit him once and was right behind him, and Maye recocked to throw when he knew the defender was behind him. He needs to pin that ball against his chest and take his medicine.
He made plays with his arm and legs, ended up with 334 yds of offense on his own.
That is far from bad, but obv he made plays he would like to have back.

Collinsworth is an idiot. He doesn’t “note” anything he just blathers incoherent thoughts.

Nobody doubts Mayes ability to take advantage of a blitz. Nobody underestimates Maye.
Collinsworth babbling about why Harbaugh went for 4th down and why he blitzed (it wasn’t an all out blitz and it was called by minter) are meaningless, uninformed and almost certainly wrong.
First, I agree, he's an idiot.

However...

He nailed the Chargers substitution thing late in the 4th. That was the first time I thought he brought anything to the table in years.

I think he was much below his lofty regular season numbers... but he was not "bad". Probably average to below average. Whatever, they won. He's got more opportunity to pick up the team. Last night, they picked him up.

Jacksonville was a fraud team and I always felt that way about them i was never convinced in Lawrence.. he lacks certain awareness an elite QB should possess.

The only good thing about the jax loss , and i “hate” to bring this up again ( i don’t whatsoever), is the last 2 weeks all that the chargers fans were saying was how they want no part of jax and they want ne all day. Well both they and jax are sitting at home. ****ing losers lmao

I loved it. That was the angriest ive seen collinsworth since the malcolm butler pick!

I think the Texans win tonight but I don't think it's as clear-cut as people are making it out to be. Houston is getting to be a bit overrated. Great defense, but their offense can be had. I could see 16-10 type of loss for Houston either tonight or next week
I posted this earlier, steelers have not lost on MNF since 1992 . A meaningless but fun stat

I wouldn't say it's meaningless - it shows a mixture of the Steelers consistency and ability to rise to the occasion (something to be admired) combined with the league's obvious bias TOWARDS the Steelers in most cases, in this case, MNF officiating.

You don't have to be a homer to say his game last night was not "bad." Herbert had a "bad" game. Maye had a pedestrian/mediocre game at worst. You are putting way too much of an emphasis on the two turnovers, one of which was a tipped pass at the LOS. Those are just unlucky and happen at times. Really his worst play was the fumble lost and the missed Hooper throw. If Maye had a bad game last night, I wonder how you feel about the play of the other QBs in the wildcard round.

Maye didn't have a mediocre game last night. It wasn't perfect, but it was far from mediocre.

What you perhaps don't realize about that missed Hooper TD is that Maye came right back on the very next play and threaded the needle on that beautiful Henry TD. Maye bounced back without blinking. That is elite mental toughness, and that was the best part of the game to me.

PFF seems to agree with my tape review of Will Campbell. Highest rated Pats offensive player at 75.6. Granted he was 60.8 Pass Block and 84.3 Run Block. As mentioned, he had 2 bad pass blocks and was dominate in the run game. The narrative he had a bad game is way off.

Adding onto the fact that I'm a professional Rodgers hater, it would be absolutely sublime to beat them on the way to Stairway to Seven.

Not just beat him, but beat him so bad he goes back to his dark room and stays there for the rest of his life.

That was the Chris Collins worth narrative, unfortunately too many lapped it right up.

And if the D shows up like they did today, we should have a good game.
you mean our Defense should have a good game

There is lots of work to do with the left side of the OL and with Maye if we are to succeed.

Yes, coaching and game plan will make a lot of difference.

The Patriots defense was frankly impressive. Stifling is the word that best describes what they were last night.

That’s why the Patriots are in the divisional round. Maye was bad.
Pats can still win if their star QB isn't at his best. Other teams, not so much (cough-yours-cough)

He is very good about not letting one play affect the next. He has been so good on 3rd down throughout the year, that when is less than that, you think it is awful.

It wasn't on the next play, it wasn't even on the same drive. On the drive he missed Hooper, we kicked a FG. It was still a one possesion game, 9-3.

I honestly don't get why people are getting defensive about calling Drake's game mediocre. He had a pick inside the 10, that would have resulted in 7 if not for a great goal line stand. He fumbled at the Chargers 18-yard line costing the team at least three points. After that he missed a wide open Hooper, which were another four points off the board. And even with the game seemingly secured, he fumbled at midfield with 06:30 to play, and thankfully Wilson fell on it. The Pats had 9 points through 50 minutes.

If the defense has a stinker, those mistakes would've resulted in a loss. It doesn't mean Drake isn't great, or that he isn't the biggest reason we are where we are or that he can't be better. On the contrary, he can be MUCH better, and in spite of all that, we won. That's something to cherish, it's great that we're not dependent on the QB to bail us time and again. He bailed the defense on several occasions in the regular season, and last night they bailed him. There's nothing wrong about well-intended critique. Drake was the first to admit he didn't play his best. That's why he's improved so much.
