2025 LT

In terms of a trade back to 10, I wonder what Vrabel thinks of Banks.

Also the vibe in the last couple of days is that teams see Membou as a RT rather than a LT convert.

Just mocking out a trade back to 10:

4. Bears - Jeanty
5. Jags - McMillan
6. Raiders - Banks? Maybe Campbell
7. Jets - Membou or Warren
8. Panthers - Walker or Williams
9. Saints - ?
10. Patriots - depending on the Saints, maybe two of, the tackles, could still be on the board.

I am not, but I see more upside in his football character than I do downside in arm length. I really am trusting Vrabel to get the right guy for them. The play is really trade back and get a pick, but I believe they'll get low balled in offers and be forced to take someone at #4 they could get 6-8. So if they stick and pick, and they don't take Campbell, then to me that means that they are confident that Trapilo can do the job, but they may have to overdraft him to get him. Ideally, they'd drop to 7 with the Jete, get Campbell there, get a WR at #38 and then Trapilo at #44. That still leaves them #69 and #77 to get some good contributors. I know I am putting a lot of confidence that they know Trapilo is a LT in the NFL. There's no noise about it, which makes me think the ******** Season is in full effect. They'll certainly have great intel on Trapilo, better than any other player in the draft perhaps, between Scar working with him and the relationship with Billy O. I would not be shocked if they took him in R2.

They've revamped the roster as much as they could since taking over, and I really think they'll do the right thing for the franchise, even if us experts don't like the move.
He is a vrabel type guy from everything you read about him. The question is he has a limiting physical factor. That is risky that he might not hold up at LT then you project him at LG and take him at 4. When he has never plyed at LG in his life.

Considering how many players successfully make the transition from LT to LG, I wonder how difficult it is. It would be interesting to know how many NFL LGs were LTs in college.

I just did a mock where I got #10 and #41 from Chicago, took Banks at #10, Noel at #38. Dropped from #41 to #48 with Miami, picked up Ozzy and then Sanker at #98. Missed all the front line RBs that I would have liked, but added Miles Frazier and Alfred Collins with #69 and #77, which feels like something they might do: focus on LoS. The rest kinda played out like the other mocks we've all done.

I think the Bears would be coming up for Jeanty and I really don’t think Will Johnson will go that high.

What would be ideal for Vrabel would be to trade back to 10 and still have Will Campbell available.

I like your Pats picks. Frazier is someone I could really see happening. He backs up four spots on the OL this year or competes for LG starter and would be a plug and play replacement for Onwenu next year if he doesn’t take the LG spot this year.

Brashard for McDaniels? He's not a physical RB but he finds the EZ and can line up as a WR because he was one.

The RB I’m not sure about is Harvey. His explosion is very apparent but there are things I’m less keen on. Early day three would be fine because there is stuff to get excited about.

I think that we would be lucky to have Banks available. I see Campbell gone by 7.

I got Harvey at #144 (or whatever the hell number they are at). As far as Johnson going that high, I only did the Pats, the sim did the rest.

I didn't see Brashard, @Clonamery. I was looking for RBs at #69 and #77, but Frazier and Collins were too tempting to pick up. I could have gone Skateboo with #69 and Tuten was there at #77, but I rolled the dice I could get Harvey later and got better at the LoS on both sides. I did get LeQuint Allen late as well.

This is all drafted players, but the starter data seems similar. For the current projected starting LGs, I see 12 that primarily played LT in college, 10 LG, 4 C, 1 RG, and 5 RT.

The perfect answer to my query. Thank you. So other than LT to RT, switching a LT to LG seems to be the most possible* switch to make from college to the NFL.

* I was going to say "easiest", but that didn't seem quite right.

I see Membou as a better fit for the Green Slime since they were starting Fashanu at LT last year and lost Moses at RT. If the Pats trade down beyond 7 I think he will be the first OT taken.

I am convinced that the Bears at 10 and the 49ers at 11 will take LTs tonight, and am predicting that will be Campbell and Simmons in that order unless the Pats take either before that. SF needs a replacement for Trent Williams but not to start the season, so Simmons would be a particularly good fit there.

I’m also predicting that in that scenario Conerly goes to Miami at 13 or the Chiefs or Texans move up and get him somewhere before pick

I think its not that big of an issue, because left tackle to guard is the most common "transition." It happens all the time. If you're capable of playing the most demanding position in college, chances are you have the mobility and intelligence to move inside.

Zack Martin, Pete Skoronski, Sam Cosmi, Graham Barton(C, but still a tackle moved inside), Tyler Smith, Joel Bitonio, Brandon Scherff, and Teven Jenkins were all college tackles. Just a quick glance at guard ranking in the league. I'm sure there's a lot more.

When you're as tough and intelligent as Campbell is, along with no doubt size and athleticism, it's an easy projection.

Yeah, that is how I see it too. Watched Kyle Long break it down and I thought he was spot on.

Still, it is a transition for a player taken at 4.

Inside the def guys get on you much quicker and they are stronger. I think he could handle it but it is a different skill set that the skill set that made him worth the #4 pick.
