DRAFT 2024 4th Round Pick - WR Javon Baker

Brandon Lloyd you say?

Remember how hyped this board was about the guy back in 2012?

Gonna be interesting in camp. Can't cut the 2 rookies. Pop is secure. Osborne and Bourne are probably safe... Pressure is on for Juju, Boutte, TT.

Of course injuries can always change things, but it looks like there'll be a strong battle not just for roster spots but pecking order.
Out with the old, in with the new?

Maybe provide a little more? I see more of a Bourne type guy. Just like Polk but not quite as polished. More of a 2/3 at best.
I didn’t mean to come off as brash, but his tape screams “explosive.” Jumps out of the gym, nice release, separates, high points the ball, elite body control, great/inconsistent hands (yes, I know lol), 50/50 balls are 80/20 balls. He just needs to improve the drops, release at the LOS against more physical corners & breaks at the top of some of his routes. Has all the potential in the world.

I like both Polk and Baker as players, but my question now is, where is the pure speed going to come from for this offense?

The Pats have a lot of cash but Juju's contract is still too heavy to move on from, unfortunately.
Actually it's not, they could eat the dead cap number and still be well under the cap. It's a $12.2m hit.

Javon Baker is the guy who makes the splash plays. He led the nation with big plays with 21.9 yards per catch and a total of 1139 yards and 7 TDs. Mind you Big12 is not the SEC, but the big play potential is definitely there with this player.

When you check out his highlight reel, it is full of circus catches.

2 minute highlights:

The kid has amazing body control and will make some really hard catches look easy.

I think he needs to polish up his game and cut down on his drops but otherwise he exhibits some mouth-watering playmaking abilities.

Ja'Lynn Polk is more of your all-rounder steady eddy, mr. reliable, move the chains on 3rd down type of guy.

The cap effect of cutting him is minimal, under $2M.

I think that they are waiting until after draft to find someone who would be willing to share some of his guaranteed salary, anything would help. If not, he goes and our cap money available remains about the same.

Javon Baker let’s go!

So who’s in danger of losing a spot?
Boutte? Thornton? Shuster?
All 3?
As of now, all three, although one of them could beat out Reagor. If Thornton looks good in camp, he could stay or be traded.

Of course, when we trade for a top WR, that spot will likely be gone.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Bourne, Douglas, Polk, Baker, Reagor (re-signed as a returner if he makes the squad)
