It's because they won't trade for real WR talent and they can't draft it for ****.

So they have to grab these bums who are making decent money cause they're the leftovers.

It's a waste.
You could get by with mediocre WR talent when you have the GOAT under center and Brady often did just fine when he had guys like likes of Chad Johnson & Reche Caldwell and made them look at least useful, but when you no longer have a phenomenon under center and you got what appears to soon be a career journeyman QB in Mac Jones you need top notch talent cause Mac shows zero signs of making any WR better at this point - Belichick refuses to change his philosophy in FA despite the tremendous downgrade at QB and the team is suffering offensively because of it.

I hear you and, as I said, I'm sure the data was somewhat watered down by the Case Keenums of the world and other names, which I'm sure played a role there. I think we saw a couple of guys whose names I can't even remember go down like that last year in one game if I recall ... although which one it was escapes me.

But again, percentage-wise - at least when it comes to the elite or notable starters among the top teams - the guys I mentioned were all players who were injured down the stretch last year. With Purdy being the one exception.

I don't know any mobile/dual threat QBs I can think of who will play into their 40s. I feel pretty confident anyone who pulls that off will be the exception, not the rule. And that's even with the way the officials tend to protect those guys. It's like anything else, the more you run, the more prone you are to taking a shot that can sideline you.

Again, not saying you're wrong, especially not knowing how they broke it down. A lot of guys get hurt all season and many of them are guys we don't remember. Collectively, that study is probably pretty even. But among the starters or marquee guys, I would say it's probably a little different and those are the ones I was thinking of. And I think the career longevity thing is probably accurate. Or at least, it has been so far based on who we've seen make it into their late 30s or beyond.

I understand completely what you are saying...I will put it this way.

I feel this coaching staff had they had a dual threatt or a very mobile QB. I think they would use their attributes but I also feel they would limit taken off and running so much to prolong their careers...

Do alot of what Brady did with the quick passing and get the hell down when you have to scramble..

I feel if Jimmy G was still here he wouldn't of gotten injured so much because they would of made him avoid being hit so much..

Yes he did get injured here, but that was like in his first year starting as QB and I am sure they would of limited the way he was just taken off and trying to take on tackles

You need to drastically lower your bar for him. I only know of one guy in the NFL who "makes WRs better" and he ran the length of the field in skinny jeans last Sunday.

He never learned and obviously still didn't get down as often as he should have. And I also think Jimmy was a guy who put himself first and wasn't willing to play through anything, we know that based on comments other players have made about him. I mean, that is certainly his right, but I don't know if that's necessarily the guy you want to count on every week, either.

And this coaching staff is certainly smart when it comes to protecting guys and making them conscious of that. But it doesn't change the fact a designed run is one play that can always go the wrong way, and when it comes in a "gotta have it" moment, guys are going to take the shot and that could be the moment where something happens. We've seen it so many times.

Again, not saying there aren't exceptions. But they definitely feel pretty rare.

I have no qualms about the defense. They’re a playoff caliber D no question. But yet again, this team is saddled with a mediocre offense. Juju looks even worse than Agholor. We can’t even rely on the usually decent running game due to the OL situation. A game manager at QB isn’t going to cut it with this crop of receivers.

Hey,I wear skinny Jeans too, not ashamed either

So Tyreek Hill didn’t go off in this game like he said he would. Moral victory baby. 2-0 in the moral victory standings.

When is the moral victory Super Bowl?

One of those guys needs to step up and become a problem. We're only in Week 2 and I'm sure we'll see growth from someone. But someone definitely needs to emerge at some point. Because this level of receiver play certainly isn't going to help any quarterback beat playoff-caliber teams. We've seen guys grow in the past and end up being bigger factors later in the year, and I really hope we see that this season.

I don't know...all I know if guys keep getting hurt in practice and turning Sundays into the mess they've been so far, I feel like it's going to be a really long year.

Think we can trade Juju and Thornton for Higgins & Boyd?
I think @Ross12 was a big Higgins guy if I recall. He's a good player, although I doubt if they'd move him in Conference if they can help it.

I was joking,Cincy ain't letting him go....I seriously would have a pants tent if We were able to get Higgins

I’m very happy we got Gonzalez. Can’t help but wonder anyway what difference Broderick Jones would have made to our OL…

I agree with you but ... man, if we didn't have Gonzalez, I think we'd be in trouble. He was the reason last night didn't get out of hand. If Hill makes that catch and/or goes on to score, it's a rout rather than a frustrating 7-point loss.

hell, i'd start Barnaby Jones over anyone on this line .... even Davy Jones

LOL, get some rest, guys. I've got to grab some sleep so I can function tomorrow (today). Frustrating loss, but I feel like they'll continue to improve and things will start coming together a little more. Hopefully, sooner than later. Try to remember they scored 40+ three times in 2021 with less including hitting 50 twice. So it can be done ... in theory, anyway

Hear what you're saying, but I think the shifting standard is what's frustrating. One day the NFL will argue you need to see the ball to overturn and can't just overturn on the basis of deduction. Then you have today's call.

You have this TV ref (wouldn't surprise me if he's on the phone with New York being told how to prime the audience) saying that because his elbow was between the ball and the yard to gain, he didn't make it. Whereas the NFL would effectively say another day that you can't assume the ball hasn't physically entered the space occupied by the ball carrier's arm to overturn.
I am entirely convinced the NFL gameday review room in NY is acting subjectively and with bias.

It's headed by - you guessed it - Troy Vincent. He determines when to buzz an in-game official and initiate a review. Additionally, when the league initiates a review, the league official - Troy Vincent - is the final authority on the call.

Henry against Minnesota
The Cole catch during the Vegas game
Then this tonight

If my theory is accurate, the league is rotten to its core.

No, @Ian they CANNOT let it go. It's the only post they have and they feel the need to repeat it OVER and OVER and OVER again, They got nothing else.

They are only here to piss people off and they are good at it, because when they face the reality of the game of football, they just fall back on their one go to post. There is no reason in them. I don't believe the guy is a Pats fan. I doubt he is even a football fan, because he has zero understanding of the game. He is here, like I said, to piss people off with his repetitive posts.
Taking a look at the reactions to this post, all I'll say is ...

a hurt dog 'gon holler.

You know when certain someones show up only when the team is struggling, are most vocal and engaged when the team is struggling, their joy is no longer in supporting the team but confirming their biases and reveling in the team's struggles.

I haven’t been banging the Mac drum by any means the last few years, but I actually liked what I saw from him for the most part. The pocket was consistently collapsing way too quickly and I thought he still made pretty good decisions and accurate throws. I think everyone was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt with the ridiculous situation last year, but it’s like most here are forgetting to actually do that. The damage of last season wasn’t going to be fixed over night. I think we may very well see the growth we’re hoping for in the second half of the season, pending some even almost decent OL play.
