He had a bit of a down year, but last year he constantly flashed when I was watching Kalambayi and Meeks. Huge fan. He's got all the tools to be a pro bowler if he can put everything together.

There has been a little bit of interest in LBs, along with WRs and OL. Although it doesn't seem like we have had as much information about Patriots contacts this year.

It does tend to come later in the process. It’s not easy being a Patriots fan when it comes to the lack of information coming out of the team. Now if only there was some way to console ourselves.

I listen to a Cowboys draft podcast (which is actually very good - The Draft Show) and the amount of information that comes out of Dallas is quite something. They get details of the 30 visits, they get a camera into the draft room on draft night so they can see which coaches are in the room as the Cowboys are about to make a pick (the podcast live streams all 3 days of the draft).

He's a twin. The link I posted yesterday has him a little slower, but the 3-cone stood out. I wouldn't be surprised if we offer them in UDFA as a twin destination. ;)

The Webster twins – Nsimba Webster and Nzuzi Webster -- also participated after concluding their careers with a variety of All-Big Sky Conference accolades in their careers. Nsimba had a 10-1 broad jump, a 4.15 time in the shuttle and a 6.75 performance in the 3-cone drill. He ran the 40 in 4.51 and 4.59, while Nzuzi had times of 4.49 and 4.54.

Those are great numbers but why is he better than Byron Jones. I can only think of two reasons: 1. Mathbomb has Jones listed as a safety. 2. Johnson is an inch taller and nine pounds heavier.

    Regardless, those are stunning numbers.

I pulled up Jones in the app. He had no Combine numbers and is listed at SS:

I reran the numbers using CB, and as you suspected it puts him 10.0 instead:

Thanks. I struggled to see how anyone could have topped Jones. As an aside, I’d love to know how he gets pro-day 10 yard splits.

Probably scraping from draftscout.com before they removed Pro Day info. Or, since he's also a journalist, he may have subscription to the National or BLESTO services. I'm not sure.

Can you get Revis' info? As I recall, he didn't test very well. He was just great on tape. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Edit: I found it. He did better at his Pro Day - Darrelle Revis - Wikipedia

    4.38 40. I only knew of his 4.53 combine 40.

1.46 10 yard split is pretty elite.
6.56 3-cone is insane, particularly for a guy who runs a fast 40.

Edit2: What app are you using?

Edit3: I found it. This Kent Lee Platte character... I don't have Twitter, so would you mind DMing him for an email address? I'm inquiring as a developer willing to improve the RAS app.

He didn't work out at the Combine. Not sure where the 4.53 came from. Hamstring injury prevented him from participating. Historically he's now #3 for CB testing, but the year he came out he was comfortably #1. Incredible athlete, incredible technician.

    Patriots legend. :D

I don't use Twitter, either. His website has his e-mail and the download for the app if you want to test it out. RAS Metrics Download

You're right. I misread. It was a projection, not his combine time.

The weird thing though is that I definitely recall him being a 4.5 guy.

Look at the 3-cone improvement here from over 8 to 7.3 at the pro day

This is an elite athlete for the position.

@reamer Any chance of a RAS comp for Nate Solder?

Bench is the only reason he's not #1. Take it out and he's the top tester.

Point is, Nijman is Solder-esque in terms of size and athleticism. Having said that, doesn’t look quite as quick footed on tape as Solder.

I was lukewarm on Solder's tape, too (shows that I'm often wrong). I couldn't get his matchup with Aldon Smith out of my mind. Smith beat him over and over that day. That said, Solder at least had enough technique and consistency to justify an early pick. Nijman is a complete mess with great potential. I'd love him in the 7th, but earlier than that I want contributors.

Maybe that's unfair? Regardless of how many picks we have, a good draft would give us two starters and two contributors. So maybe I should expect three starters and three contributors. That would be considered a very strong draft by any metric, but for 12 picks it would mean roughly a 50% hit rate. Food for thought.

I’d take him in the 6th, but I too was underwhelmed by his tape. Still, I wouldn’t object to Dante working with that combination of size and athleticism. He’s a good Pats fit in that regard.
