His off the field issues seem to be, not blown out of proportion, but theyre being brought to attention because of the great player he is, and the actual proof from that video. Many other players (i.e Dede westbrook) or even worse Tyreek Hill ( punched and strangled his PREGNANT girlfriend) are getting/got the benefit of the doubt.
Seeing he checks out, I would be fine taking him with anything later then a 4th.
Going Jake butt with one of our 3rd, and Mixon with our 4th, would allow this team to draft all D in the first rounds, yet address our few offensive needs with top tear talent, and be stacked for years to come.
Mixon in the Offense would be INSANE
Eh day 3 shot?
Really should have gone back to school but the truth is next years potential class of RB's mightbe better.
Landon Collins first player in NFL History to have 100+ solo tackles, 2+sacks , 5 INT's, 12+ passes defended.
Yeah, the love for Hill (featured all over NFL.com) contrasted with the hate for Mixon is driving me insane. What Hill did is arguably far worse, but there's not a video for public consumption. Furthermore, Mixon apologised with tears, said he'd like to help with organizations and shelters for women, and also said he hopes to become a teacher/role model for kids to help them avoid his mistakes. Isn't this what Vick did, essentially? He paid his debts, and he got a second chance. That's how society should work. If the kid's reformed, give him a shot. He's 20. He's got time to grow. Put him next to Matthew Slater, and let him mature.
Which CBs haven't panned out? Milner? He's the only real bust. It happens. Jones did fine on defense. 150 coverage snaps and gave up like 2 catches. Kirkpatrick has been a starter every year. Landon Collins has been exceptional. Etc. The Bama players are a pretty good bet.
Mixon is a hell of a player but, refresh my memory someone, has there ever been a history of the Patriots pulling the trigger on a player in the draft with a history (albeit one instance) of domestic violence? I'm having a hard time of thinking of any off the top of my head.
Actually the list is fairly long when it comes to Corners (not safeties) from Alabama which have been drafted high, and have failed to live up to their draft position. At least in the Saban era. Not all of these players have been "bust" but most have had sub-par careers which have been riddled with inconsistency.
2010 Kareem Jackson. 1st round, pick 20. Hes graded out from PFF negatively 4-7 of his seasons, with 3 of those season allowing a QBR of OVER 100.
2012 Dre Kirkpatrick 1st round, pick 17. This its the first year in his 5 year career where he has graded out even remotely comparable to his draft position. I mean, that's a bust if you ask me for the 17th pick.
2103 Dee Milliner 1s round, pick 7 I don't think I need to describe this in detail
Then you have Jones, who we don't know how he will turn out just yet, but as of now, he wasn't exactly proven his worth of that second round pick, maybe a 3rd. Lets hope I'm proven wrong
Its just my opinion, but I think history under saban at Alabama proves his corners just aren't worth the draft capital teams have been paying for them. The safeties, most defiantly. The corners.... not so much
Ehhhh, I don't really put much stock in PFF. Jackson is still a starter after 7 seasons. That's so far above league average that it puts him as a solid hit (not necessarily homerun). Same for Kirkpatrick. It's not their fault that teams overpaid for their performance. They're still decent players.
The current crop of Alabama corners looks much better. Fitzpatrick has serious instincts and playmaking ability. Humphrey is really sound in his assignments. Sure, they get beat on occasion, but I think they're very good players who would do well on any team in the NFL.
In terms of value, though, I agree that we can target other players later. I'm warming to Conley, for example. He's a pretty nice player out on the perimeter.
someone is going to draft Mixon and I bet as we get further away from the incident some teams are going to forget about it. Then again we dont know if this incident was a one off or if teams view him as a jerk, we have seen talented players drop because teams did not like them personally. Look at AJ Mcarron, guy came into the draft so full of himself and it really turned teams off, obviously Mixon's situation is different but if he acts humble then I think teams will be more inclined to take him.Im totally in love with Mixon as a player. Not one good player has been drafted from bama after the first round that saban recruited. Plenty of first round busts too. Lately they have been better though
Can you name me one good alabama player that saban recruited that got drafted after the first round. His players generally have less room to grow when they come into the leagueI don't even know where to begin on this one, man. I think you're just biased against Saban.
