Bishop Sankey signed to the PS

With a number of slow, stiff running backs like Cobb and Williams released yesterday, Sankey was probably the best bet since he at least has some plus physical tools.

For those of us unclear on the concept, why did the Pats decide J. Jones was better than LeBlanc? And, for that matter, E. Roberts over KGH?

After thinking about it, its not sitting well with me at all that they cut this kid.

BB should have cut Jordan Richards. KGH is the better athlete.
On the other hand, it's a pretty bad sign when a safety-sized player with safety athleticism is never included anywhere on the safety depth chart. They need a fourth true safety, and the first requirement to fill that role is that a player plays the safety position.

He was playing extremely well on special teams, and there wasn't much between them as corners. And one hopes Jones doesn't have to see the field as a rookie anyhow.

IMO it was Jones' doing a bang-up job on special teams. Plus I think hes a better athlete than LeBlanc. In coverage I kinda thought they were pretty equal.

Yes but I saw KGH as a SS not a FS. Because Richards can play SS and FS and ST well that is why he is here. I think KGH has more upside but thats me. Clearly they like King on ST (and they should) and maybe they think he can do more on D this year...

He got caught in a numbers game. Plain and simple.

His "best plays" never came when it mattered most.. And, honestly, I think you're selling LeBlanc short. LeBlanc never seemed to give up on plays the way Asante did

I'm thinking of that 2006 AFCCG when he and Ellis shut down the Colts -- if it hadn't been for BS pass interference penalties. But I take your point. LeBlanc seemed scrappy in a good way.

If we have an injury don't we have the option of signing Hill or LeBlanc off of that team's PS???

We may see these guys again..

My take is this:

The Pats took Jones over LeBlanc because Jones seems to be slightly better in coverage AND showed he's an excellent gunner on special teams. LeBlanc didn't really show on STs. I actually was disappointed that they kept Coleman over LeBlanc. I thought LeBlanc outplayed coleman in each of the games.

As for Elandon Roberts over KGH, I think it came down to the fact that Richards seems to be heading to the Chung role and KGH wasn't a polished and the Pats felt they needed the back-up at ILB more than the extra S/LB at this point..

Roberts and KGH probably fill similar roles on STs as well..

You can't claim a player to your PS. You can only claim him to the 53.

The Niners are desperate for any warm body at receiver, and Harper kind of sucks. Glad he's got a chance elsewhere.
