2016 Draft Prospect Thread

I've been looking at wide outs recently and have been looking at three later round prospects who might be of interest for us ( I wouldnt mind double dipping if the right prospect was available). Now hypothetically if we were able to land miller or carroo, what would you guys think of looking at Byron Marshall, keyarris Garrett, or charone Peake.

Byron Marshall out of Oregon seems to really rely on speed to get open and i think he will be available later in the draft. Plus he's played running back as well so there is some versatility he has.

Keyarris Garrett is the complete opposite. He's bigger and uses his size as an advantage but seems alittle slow to me.

And my favorite of the group is Peake. He reminds of lafell but with better hands. I think he is pretty underrated as a receiver. But I think he can contribute.

Those are the three I've been looking at. I didn't want to look at the usual receivers that are onna be taken early. But let me know what you guys think.

I think Chris Jones is the DT pick, he falshed ( more then he should really ) at combine. Then they can get a "NT" late day 3 with a comp pick.

I like Jones too. Plenty of upside. DJ Reader is an impressive NT and potential Siliga replacement.

I made the Peake/Lafell comparison a week or so ago. I like Peake quite a bit and his Clemson heritage is a positive.

As of now I'll keep an eye on candidates such as LeRaven Clark, Shon Coleman, Taylor Decker and Jason Spriggs who all might be available at 60 and who might possess enough height/weight/athelticism to be
able to provide top Swing Tackle reps before starting at either Tackle position by 2017.

The only two tackles I see the patriots taking at #60 are spriggs, who is perfect for a zone blocking scheme like ours, and Clark.

Spriggs is a decent pass blocker and an above average run blocker. He helped an Indiana running back have a huge year on the ground a couple years ago. In the bowl game after the season, he got blowed up by speed rushers. Teams will be worried about that, and he will drop. Year two, he could be a starter for us.

Clark is the better pass blocker. Very nimble and smooth. But he sucks going forward and has never played with his hand in the dirt. He will need a year or more to learn how to play the position properly. But could be an all pro eventually with those feet.

Unless one of projected 1st rounders drop, these are the only two guys I see worth bb taking at #60.

There are so many good defensive tackles in this draft. Bb absolutely needs to take one in this draft and he can wait until day 3 to do it.

Off the top of my head:

Bullard >>>>Charles Tapper

Miller >>>>Pharoh Cooper

Both are a downgrade though (Cooper less so).

I think there's a slight chance JB falls into the early 2nd.

Ive seen you're post about Tapper and you nailed it. He'll be a find for someone. I think both are LDE that kick inside.

And I have to say Im surprised Cooper isnt getting more love here. Route running, hands, and unlike Miller he's shown toughness and has the versatility you want as a Pats wr. He had terrible QB play this past year. Granted he might not have the upside of Miller, I'll admit.

I mentioned Keith Marshall last year. Just wasn't healthy enough to declare. I want at 96. He looked
good against a pretty good PSU defense at Gator Bowl in Jan. He was actually a slightly higher rated recruit
out of high school than Todd Gurley. 4.31??

He was out of football for a few years, so he is really quite the unknown. Physically, I see no reason why he couldn't play LT. He's just getting back into the game, though, so he's less of a sure thing one way or the other.

Excellent write up on Charles Tapper here. Firstly, it should be noted that his 10 yard split matched Jadeveon Clowney's. Amongst linebackers and DL at the Combine, only Darron Lee had a better 10 yard split.

Secondly, love this quote from Tapper.

When he's told that Mario Williams was not happy about dropping into coverage, Tapper cuts in.

"I would love to drop into coverage," he said. "Yeah, I’d love to show people how athletic I am. Who wouldn’t want to catch a couple picks in their career? You get opportunities to score touchdowns! ... I definitely love to show how versatile I am. When you want to be the greatest you have to be great at a bunch of different things. Look at J.J. Watt. Combine Star Charles Tapper Has Pro Bowl Potential

Tapper and Sheldon Day are two really interesting pieces that could, primarily, back up Easley, but can be used in a number of different ways on the DL and even as part time linebackers.

Manx, we'll have to keep track of Tapper's career. A gentleman's wager on how he does. I'm not impressed with his play, but his testing numbers show that he has huge potential. What I didn't like is how often he's just standing around doing nothing on the play. Seems more like a spectator than a participant far too frequently. I would have liked to see some urgency.

Not in my opinion. Far too risky. A late day two pick at best for me. He's a rare athlete but he could be the next Aldon Smith.

Cyrus Jones = Logan Ryan?

With Ryan's contract up next year, I could see Jones being drafted as a replacement. A toch short (1" shorter than Ryan, same height as Dennard), one thing I'm looking for for a Patriot's CB is physicality and effectiveness in run support. Jones ticks both boxes. He has the versatility to play inside and out and could be a quality returner if we move on from Amendola. I like his fit a lot.

Cyrus jones is a much better return guy than Ryan. But Ryan is a much better slot CB than jones foul ever be.

Drafting jones to be the return guy should help Edelman stay healthy longer.
