2016 Draft Prospect Thread

How come no one is talking about Sean Davis? His tape isn't all world (although it's not terrible, either), but these testing numbers are fantastic. He is almost identical to Eric Rowe last year, but without the possible first round hype. Most sites have him in the 3rd. With his size, speed, and agility, he could be a long term starter in the secondary if his technique improves.

  • Height: 6' 1"
  • Weight: 201
  • Arm Length: 31?"
  • Hand Size: 9½"
  • 40 Yard Dash: 4.46
  • Bench Press: 21
  • Vertical Jump: 37½"
  • Broad Jump: 126"
  • 3 Cone Drill: 6.64
  • 20 Yard Shuttle: 3.97
  • 60 Yard Shuttle: 11.53
  • Agility Score: 10.61

I put him on my big board because of those numbers. The problem s where do you play him. He's less good as a CB so safety is his best fit but he'd probably play a similar role to McCourty. He might be useful if Harmon leaves allowing Mccourty to go back to single high and allowing Davis to take McCourty's current role. @midwestpatsfan I believe did a scouting report on him.

Yes, here it is:

Thanks! I knew I couldn't be the only one looking at him on here, but the search feature let me down. I do think he could be a big press corner or TE killer, and that certainly has value in this current meta.

Very similar to Mccourty's numbers (in bold) - actually a little bit better. Even more on board with the eventual goal to have McCourty move back to single high and have Davis play the slot safety role. One area Davis did a lot better on was 10 yard split. 1.50 to McCourty's 1.60.

I have my first irrational binky. Ricardo Louis took over for Sammie Coates, and looks like he's significantly more fluid. He's a former quarterback, and has almost 600 career rushing yards for Auburn. This was the only year he had any real production as a receiver, so he's very raw, but he's big and has good movement skills and explosion. I was impressed by his fight for contested balls and by his body control.

No shuttle or 3-cone, but I saw a lot of quick movements and jukes in his tape. Not a polished route runner, but a dangerous deep threat, and I think he could develop. Worth a late round gamble.

Height 6020
Weight 215
40 yard dash 4.43
10-yard split 1.58
Vertical jump 38
Broad jump 11

If you haven't read my report, how dare you! JK. To sum up, I think he has all the physical and athletic tools to play corner, he just needs time to develop better technique. He can come in right away and play safety however. I like the potential of him at Corner and I am willing to give him time to develop. If not, he has a McCourty like role in his future.
Shout out to Manx for adding the report to his post.

edit: not to toot my own horn, but I just went back and read that report for the first time since I wrote it, and I feel like I nailed that report. I think he goes day 2 for sure, and probably round 2 now though.

Manx responded with your report earlier, so I did read it! Good stuff.

Shepard would be a top 10 pick if he were 4 inches taller, IMO. I love his fight. He reminds me of Julian with his quickness and aggressiveness. Probably my favorite target in the 2nd or 3rd.

In terms of receiving skill, I think he's great. The 7.00 3-cone worries me a little as does the fact that we already have Edelman, Amendola and Martin. Would be very pleased to have him on the team, I'm just not entirely sure he's a priority. That might change after FA if we sign one or two 'outside' receivers.

If sheppard is there when we come up in the third round, we should be all in in him.

Don't worry about the 7.00 3-cone. My take is that you should only worry about outliers in the wrong direction -- in other words, it's a red flag if he runs a 7.97, but as long as he's within a particular cutoff, then the actual number isn't terribly relevant. When I watch his tape, he has a want to that most of the other receivers don't. It reminds me of Gronk or Brady -- the competitive drive, the will to conquer no matter the odds.

Also, see if you can tell me who this prospect is:

I'm going to guess that the top one is either Edelman, Welker or Amendola.

I like Miller, but I don't think he's as polished or as competitive as Shepard.

He isn't, but I think he has higher upside and will be able to do more in that he'll be able to play in the slot and outside and be a dynamic runner too on screens and reverses.

It's not that he won't be a good player, it's whether he'll be a good pass rusher. If you're taking a DE in the top 5, you want more than a 6-8 sack guy. And that's my issue with Bosa. Just how productive will he be at getting after the QB. He's more Derek Wolfe than Von Miller.

Ahh thats true, I have always argued you dont take a 3-4 end in the top 5, Unless you really tjink Hes gonna be like a JJ watt

Eric Striker is undersized and didn't have a great combine but 'holy attacking linebacker Batman!'
