Interesting and Puzzling final QB stats 2019

• Only 4 QB's with more than 4,000 yards (Jameis Winston, Dak Prescott, Phillip Rivers and Matt Ryan) ALL on teams that did not make the playoffs
• Only 2 QB's with more than 30 TD passes (Winston and Jackson)
• 3 guys with >70% pass completion T(annehill, Brees and Carr)
• QBR rating rankings; Brady finished 17th, Trubisky 28th, Baker Mayfield 19th, Aaron Rogers 20
  • Brady finished ahead of both Aaron Rogers and Baker Mayfield
  • Top 2 QB's in QBR are arguably on 2 best teams
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick (supposed JAG) finished ahead of Tannehill, Wentz, Carr, Cousins, Matt Ryan and Jimmy Garropolo, Tom Brady and Kyler Murray
  • Surprising underachievers; Mayfield, Rogers, Darnold, Jared Goff, Marcus Mariotta, Winston Josah Allen, Tom Brady, Mitchell Trubisky
  • Surprising overachievers; Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, Ryan Tanehill, Derek Carr, Ryan Tannehill assuming TB12 leaves

-Hard to understand why TD throws/QB was so low this year, Big drop off for Mahomes from last year even factoring in missed games
-Best to go shopping in bargain bin basement for value if Pats decide to go in that direction and QB whisperer McDaniels is still coach
-Mayfield (if they trade him), Trubisky, Marcus Mariottta, Tannehill
Brady had BIG drop off from last few years and decline has been every year over past 4....a terrible sign for future performance. 2019 - 53, 2018-68.4, 2017- 70.6, 2016-79.4)
Based on this alone a 30 million contract for next year would be extremely risky.


Gunslinger of the decade award goes to James Winton- first player to have 30 interceptions and 30TD's in same year. I doubt he is fixable, He is the Vinny Testaverde of the 21st century

Very strange year for QBs. Consider the original projected starters in training camp...

Luck retires.
Roethlisburger and Newton miss the year with injury.
Foles is a bust.
Eli and Mariotta are benched.
Goff, Mayfield, Trubisky all take big steps backwards.
Brady, Rogers and Rivers all decline somewhat.

The NFL is experiencing a significant QB reset.
