perhaps, but the caveat always being injury. If Brown, Doubs or Hollins were to injure, I believe Boutte is someone who can step in and the offense would not miss a beat.

KW and Barefoot haven't shown that their better than Boutte the WR pound for pound. Also I think Boutte can eclipse Romeo Dobbs best season. We haven't seen the Best of Boutte. Doubs have never hit the 800yds mark so far in his career.

I agree that Boutte should be kept as the #4/#5/#6 WR in case of injury.

I strongly disagree that we would be as effective with him replacing one of the top 3.

This is why I would keep Bouttee on the roster UNLESS someone makes an offer like a 2027 4th or 28 3rd. THAT would be a deal I'd take for him. Anything less and I'm keeping him because in the NFL, you are only as good as your best back up and Boutee can back up BOTH Brown and Doubs OR simply beat one of them out. I think he'd get enough snaps over the course of a long season to impress some people with his potential AND help this team.

This situation seems analagous to that of Gonzo.

The team would like
1) Boutte to be the #4/#5/#6 Wr in case of injuries.
2) Gonzo to play the 2026 season for a couple of million dollars.

The players want other options. For many, they are under contract so they should have exactly zero say, just play for the contracted amount.

For others, this is a business and the player should do what he can to maximize reaching his goals.

I asked AI what teams we considered deficient at WR. This is what I got back. Some bad info. Kendrick Bourne, Kelsey retiring. Don't know what else is incorrect.

He is much better than being a bench warmer to fill in for an injury especially after what he gave us last season. The Pats should absolutely do right by him and find a trade.

1 rcpt went for 72 yards
therefore other than the 1 rcpt, his ypc was 15....

I've been saying it all spring... I like Boutte, routed for him, and even projected him to be the WR stats leader last year.

But, we've seen his ceiling. I don't see him really blowing up here, or elsewhere. I think he's a good WR3, and that might be it.
KW & Doubs should be able to replicate his production, and Pop & Hollins were in range last year with him.

I don't think we'll miss him 3 years from now even if/when AJ is gone.

So, as a reward for his playing well last year, we should trade him to a team that will pay him to comete for reps as a #3 WR.

So, a player can't play well enough for the patriots to consider him a #2. The player whines. And we trade him, ignoring the fact that he would be valuable at his salary to the 2026 patriots.

Without a doubt...if Doubs was out for a while...Boutte would be able to provide sufficient support. Hollins has a unique skill-set that nobody on the team has but he's also old....so that may be a factor. Boutte is Brown / Diggs lite.
