He (Vrabel) talks about "football character" and that's different from Belichick's "character" guys. To me, football character is the guy who's going to play at 100%, and do all the little things necessary to be a complete football player. This guy is athletic and can make plays, but he decides when and how he's going to do it, and not 100% of the time.
Yeah whoever here keeps pounding the table for Pickens to come here needs to cut it out. The only way he’s wearing a Patriots uniform is in a Madden simulation. He’s not coming here. Period.

He’s not a team player, wasn’t at Georgia and isn’t in Pittsburgh either. The Steelers aren’t trading him because they’re not going to get enough value in return for a malcontent with one year left on his deal. They may as well keep him as the WR2 next to Metcalf for whatever QB they end up bringing in.

Agreed. Guys like that won't last long in the league no matter how talented they are. We've seen it over and over look at dionte Johnson ultra talented but his character and attitude are why he's got one foot out the door.

g

I think we are writing off Boutte too soon.
Agreed. I Don't see the point of trading him. He was what a 6th rounder?,? Guy was basically the #1 WR last season and most of the big plays were by him. He has a spot here and I like his trajectory.

If the Patriots are going to take Will Campbell over Abdul Carter, they better trade down.

Not buying Will Campbell @ 4 if Adul Carter is still on the Board. The Patriots phones should be ringing off the hook with multiple offers. And I expect them to listen; A Carter will be Highly sought after.

I trust Vrabel to do what best for the team. They can move all around the board to get it done.. as long as when Thursday is over we have a OT..

Wow...look at Temu Micah Parsons destroying Rutgers.

Idk. Pats get a two for one improvement on the right side with Onwenu at RG and Moses at RT. Bradbury? Not seeing it, but they must see something I’m missing. Not sure you can count on Strange. I like Campbell but he’s a rookie. Even Wirfs had growing pains his first year.
you're not sure that Strange-Bradbury are better than Robinson-Brown? ???

I don't know, man, he seemed pretty high on Strange having a strong shot at it.

As for left guard, probably Layden Robinson, Sidy Sow, or whoever else either emerges from the other current obscure names. Or maybe a potential draft pick from this year's class, depending on what happens this weekend.
Isn't the inability to pass block a serious deficiency for a potential starter at LG?

There’s a reason the Vikes moved on from Bradbury. We’ll see about Strange. I’d say it’s not much of an improvement right now.

I have problems with McDermott but the man has had 6 consecutive double digit win seasons (4 more than Vrabel ever had) and has 7 playoff wins vs Vrabel's 2. He easily is the best coach in the division until proven otherwise.

Also we are 2 years removed from a 4 win team where the coach was Bill Belichick. Coaching is only going to upgrade the record so much. The guys on the field have a massive say in what goes on.

Here's the real gig. We are more likely fighting for a wildcard spot. So it's 3 teams we need to get beyond. Bengals/Steelers/Ravens one will win the division and those other 2 will be going for those spots. Tomlin has never coached a team with a losing record and with Burrow the Bengals have a high floor even if they are an incomplete team. Chiefs will win the AFC West. The Broncos and Chargers made the playoffs last year and have been on the upswing and added pieces this year. So imo it's tough to just straight up discount them.

The problem with fighting for a wildcard spot is that there's a lot of teams we will be competing with where the quality of our team won't actually factor into things in terms of stopping our competitors. We won't play the Broncos or Chargers to have any chance of giving us a tiebreaker advantage or putting an L on their record. Even if we think they are "teases" they can be teases and still pass us in that wildcard hunt. We only play the Steelers and Bengals once and only one is a home game.

And that's assuming we make a decent jump relative to everyone else. Maye is still a question mark. The offensive line has holes and AT BEST will be relying on some rookies with question marks to take on a huge burden. The WR core is putting all their hopes on Diggs coming back from injury, if he struggles, we are back to our offense being a mess.

So there's just a lot up in the air. We have too many unknowns at this point
The best we can hope for is a GREAT Draft, the OL gets a lot better, and they make serious improvement running the ball and in added talent (even if they're Rookies) in the WR and RB Corps. We'll have a better idea after the 1st 4 regular season games.

Lots of juicy rumors that the Eagles and Pats have discussed the possibility of trading the Pats pick (#4 overall) for AJ Brown and the Eagles pick (#32 overall)

What say ye?

AJ Brown Stats - A.J. Brown Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Draft, College | Pro-Football-Reference.com
- 17 game average - 84 rec, 1327 yards, 9 TDs
AJ Brown Salary - https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/29087/aj-brown
- average cap hit about $23M
Trade Value Chart - 2025 NFL Trade Value Chart
- 2200 points for #4, 590 for #32, essentially valuing Brown at 1600 which is about the same as pick 6
I like AJ Brown but we would need a lot more in return. I'm thinking at least the Eagle's 2nd round pick back too. That's a HUGE move down.

More likely We give up our 2nd for AJ plus a pick swap into a later round.

I understand but I think Strange will be great at Center this year. Strange should have been a Center all along, but D Andrews was there. Strange is big, strong, and moves really well, which is unusual and ideal for a Center. A guard has to be more stout which is Strange's weakness.

You make some good points. Strange was a Strange pick, but he was a good college player. Lance Zierlein who did the comments on every player on the NFL website pre draft/post combine, had Strange as a 2nd round pick.

He made some interesting comments about Strange as a possible center. Also, Strange had the best measurables of every Guard tested. Here’s the comment about Center.

“His frame and play strength are a little below average, but he has done some snapping in practice, so he could land as a future starting center for a zone-happy rush offense.”

Also, like I said, his measurables were tops for Guards.

This is about as meaningful as asking "If Brady's doctors offered you $50M for one of your ACLs back in 2008, would you have given it up?"

Zierlein's comment that “His frame and play strength are a little below average" and my comment that Strange is not overly stout are directionally the same. That is why I think Strange will stay at Center and Bradbury is a backup.

If I am right that means there is a hole at LG that the Pats did not fill so far in FA. Maybe they plan to draft a power LG or maybe they are optimistic about Sow, Robinson, or J Andrews.

Or maybe I am wrong. We will see.

It's not enough. If Philly throws in their 2025 2nd rounder, I'd do it.
I would. Philly likely would have to add another pick with it to sweeten it. AJ and a 4th rounder should suffice. So we get AJ and then can select Ozzie trippillo as our OT in the 2nd round.

I really don’t like the guy. He’s not a complete football player. He’s the antithesis of what they say they want on this roster.

It’s the same old ********. There are fans here who would give the 4 for Jeffrey Dahmer, if he was WR, and alive. Although I can think of a few who wouldn’t require the alive part.
