Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

(Checks schedule) - They went 14-3 last year and finished at the top of the league in scoring (2nd behind the Rams), one year removed from being at the bottom:

And it was the 5th highest total in franchise history:

I would say while Josh might not have had his best game in February, his body of work isn't quite as bad as you're making it out to be.
Josh also had the Pats competing for the 1 seed in December 2021 with Mac Jones as his QB, and won 7 games in 2020 with a QB who could barely throw a ball.

I might want the Pats to trade for Olave over Brown. I think his concussion issues can be averted with a QB who doesn't typically throw coffin balls and having him run routes that are less dangerous. Doubs and Kirk would be nice add ons, but not a replacement to Diggs.

They won't leave their Young QB Handicapped...fake rumor.

I wouldn't hate a Thomas Jr. trade especially if they are targeting the position in the top of the draft. The pause is why is he on the market; what is going on other than production is down. 23 yr. old who has had success in the league. I could take a chance on that if it costs just the 31st pick.
So he may be a malcontent but you’re willing to burn a 1st for him.I don’t even want to burn a 2nd on him if he is available after a good rookie season while still on a rookie contract and the team wants to trade him.
I’m not saying he is a malcontent or will fail, but why the hell is he available looms large

If he's the best WR, why are the Jaguars potentially getting rid of him at a bargain price within his rookie contract?

If the Jaguars were willing to 'get rid of him at a bargain price' I'd expect he'd have been dealt already. The mid season injuries combined with the arrival (and almost instant jelling with Lawrence) of old friend Jakobi Meyers cut down on his numbers significantly which may have made him expendable in Jax for the right price but I doubt it will be in bargain basement territory.

Yes the schedule was easy but I bet not one pundit out there didn't consider the Pats coming off back to back 4-13 seasons to be part of another team's easy schedule in September. Didn't hear many predictions that we'd take advantage of an easy schedule and win the conference...

That's because no one ever predicted that. Some are just upset that Vrabel was able to get so much from the bag of **** Belichick left to clean up in Foxborough.

The Eagles can pound sand. That's way too much for Brown. They are going to end up with Brown holding out for a trade after dangling him all offseason. They have made it clear they don't want him, so let them deal with the repercussions from that.

It isn’t a fake rumor. Anderson is a solid reporter. She doesn’t make things up. Nowhere does it say though that there is any serious discussions for Olave.

But I could see New Orleans tanking for Arch Manning. Nothing would be bigger than Archie’s grandson coming home to play.

Huh? I didn't question Josina Anderson's reporting. I merely offered an opinion on what may be going on with BTJ .

Sorry I responded to the wrong post. There was an issue with my computer.

I like Olave, if the price is cheap due to his injury concerns.

They can't tank better than the Dolphins and Jets in 2026. They'll be 1-2 by seasons end: don't ask me who'll be on Top.

My concern with Olave is those injury concerns are valid
Oh, absolutely. I just think we might be able to get a good year or two out of him until we somehow kidnap the Steelers' WR draft guru and get him to find us one in the draft.

Yes I would move a 1st for him if he is not: 1. A malcontent 2. Hates football or 3. some medical issue mental or physical I am not privy too. He is young. On a rookie contract and proven he can play in the league at a high level. If his issue are deemed correctable by the Pats coaching staff and they are looking at the WR position to draft with their 1st. Yeah, I would give the 31st pick up for him..

People make way too much of this weak schedule thing, at least relative to the AFC. Compare our last place schedule to the Bills first place schedule. There’s an only a 3 game difference. All the other teams are the same. Patriots went 2-1 against teams the Bills didn’t play while the Bills went 1-2. If the Patriots beat only the team the Bills played which had a losing record and lose to the 2 winning teams, they go 1-2. So it’s a difference of 1 game. With a first place schedule the Patriots probably would have gone 13-4 and still won the division. Too much is made.
The first place versus last place schedule is generally overrated. The rotational schedule usually isn’t. Pats (and Bills) got NFC South and AFC North last year which is probably about as good of a draw you could get. This year it’s NFC North and AFC West. Obviously things remain to be seen, but at first blush that looks much tougher. But maybe Minnesota doesn’t solve its QB issues, maybe Detroit continues to lose talent and Campbell continues to lose his magic. Maybe Mahomes isn’t reasonably well recovered when we play them, maybe the Raiders are still trying to gel. So we don’t know for sure yet how tough it’ll be or not. But it’ll be hard not to be least at least a little more difficult than last year.

IDK, Malik Willis might be good enough to win some games. Not enough to make them better than awful, but the Dolphins can possibly win 4-5 games. And if the Jets draft a QB at 2, they are going to win games too.

I agree with you that I would give up 31 if he was at end of contract and team could not sign hime because they were in cap hell. But he is in his 3rd year after a banner rookie season.
My guess is they keep him and are leaking trade talk to motivate him. Just a guess. You just don’t give up on a young promising receiver.

You said that last year too didn’t you?
Probably. I think I was 12 wins on the first review, and at that I thought I needed to have my head examined.

"Might be" or "yeah but" don't win games in Today's NFL. The Jets and Dolphins are the definition of horribly run organizations.
